It's so relaxing watching her mix the ingredients together. An how sweet of her that she developed many different kimchi variations for people who can't handle spicy. So thoughtful.

It's true, kimchi is scientifically proven to have amazing health benefits for your immune system because of the good bacteria (probiotics) that develop as the fermentation process happens. Thank God for Kimchi! 😋

@@thornados4969 You are absolutely correct. Although kimchi doesn't have to be overly salty like the staple, cabbage kimchi. The Master of Kimchi states they had many different variations as she was growing up. It was the fermentated part that she kept constant in all those variations.
i can't go past the fact her family threw her out more than 4 times? i would be traumatised to both see my daughter ''coming back to life'' or being the little girl waking up all alone realising her family thought she was dead..again and again

You have to think your parent hate you after the 3rd time you pass out and wake up in the garbage. After the 1st time, okay things happen. After the second time, well maybe they were distraught. But after the third time, wow, you really didn't check if I was breathing with a mirror.
Kimchi is indeed delicious, at first I really hated it, mainly because all the kimchi I've eaten before are made by restaurants and manufacturers that made it taste so awful, and doesn't really taste what kimchi should. After some time Korean food popularity is gaining traction and everywhere korean restaurants starts popping up like crazy, finally found one korean owned restaurant and tried their kimchi, and it was the bomb, that started my addiction to kimchi, but it's crazy expensive and you can easily eat a jar without noticing it. So I googled how to make traditional kimchi, just followed the recipe, adjusted the fermentation duration since I live in the tropics which make the kimchi ripen faster. Best thing I ever did in my life, I can now make my own kimchi which is very delicious and I don't have to pay a lot of money to eat it, can never have a meal without it.

@@ko10koreanching You didn't sound like you were joking you sounded like you think it's funny (in a negative way) that she did so
That throaty sound she makes @9:13 used to scare me as a child growing up in Korea. It meant my mom and her friends or sisters were over and gossiping, fighting, or both. They would prolong the sound so long or make it so loud it'd echo through the house. 😄😂😭
as a Korean adopted to the states, I grew up with this always on the table when I visited the only Korean restaurant my parents knew about, but I never ate it because my parents didn't like it. And then when I tried it, my whole world turned upside down. it was like the best food I ever tried. it made me become obsessed with Korean cooking, and so I learned a whole bunch of recipes since then. ive been trying to perfect my kimchi recipe, but with such limited Korean language ability and not knowing many koreans ive been having trouble. im definitely going to try it with her recipe. oh man, im simultaneously euphoric that such a delicious thing can exist but also slightly sad that because of being adopted, I grew up unknowing and afraid of trying new foods. most people I grew up with only ate pizza, pancakes, and sweet desserts. I didn't really care for them and that's true even more now. I don't even have a college meal plan because I prefer to cook Korean food in my dorm. it makes me believe that maybe theres something in my Korean blood that makes me just weak to loving this stuff lmao

I love America, but I try to go back to Korea as often as I can (once every 1-2years) and every time I go back, it gives me a very strange feeling seeing all these Korean people there. You are no longer a minority there in Korea and everyone looks the same and speaks Korean. You will feel that you are home.

Kimchee made with her bare hands like a true ajumma. Love that Korea is actively ensuring the tradition of making kimchee will not fade.
This video was beyond beautiful. Thanks for all your work. ☺️
Kimchi is the cutest natural medicine. Refreshing and delightful. She's worthy of this title.🏆🥇
When you take the first bite of her kimchi you make that sound like on the show Food Wars or you aren't human. I want to try her variations of kimchi... damn it!!

I don't know if she sells a worldwide but I really hope so I definitely would want to taste would really good kimchi taste like. Wow that kimchi prep is serious!... also I love how she fed them by hand as our grannies/moms/aunts/neighbors used to do back in the day when it was freshly done.
Such an interesting video! Love the cultural aspect of it. Please more cultural related videos Asian Boss! Thank you for your hard work! 👏😊

Tbh the only similarity between the 2 is the fermented cabbage. They can't be compared because they're so different. I like both, but prefer Kimchi even though I'm German. Also, depends on the recipe, my family always put garlic and onion in our Sauerkraut, guess it depends on the family/recipe.

i had kimchi once in a restaurant and it wasnt very good but i didn't give up on it just yet, because one so-so kimchi isn't enough to do that. Also where i'm from we eat a lot of fermented foods (mainly cabbage and cucumbers) and everything that goes in to kimchi sounds like such a good combination, and so tasty! Kimchi isn't easy to come by here but i really would love to try one that would rock my world!!! Amazing thing is that I was really thinking these past days about trying to make kimchi (for the first time). And you then post video about kimchi! haha :) what a coincidence! I wonder about other countries though, in Slovakia its difficult to get some ingredients for kimchi/ or kimchi in general.
This was very emotional👍
Wow! Now I want to try that kimchi :P / I will try to buy it this summer, when I'm there.
As a Mexican Anerican I love kimchi tacos, very popular in San Francisco California.😁✌
I was 19 when I was introduced to kimchi. I had never seen such a thing before in my life, I had no ideal what to make of the stuff, then when I asked what it was made of and how it was made I realized my mother used to make something similar to the cabbage kimchi that was so popular around me. the kraut my mother would make was fermented cabbage not the same as kimchi but similar we used cabbage ,garlic, and salt no red pepper paste or onions and we did not eat it as often as Koreans eat kimchi. it was easy for me to pickup the taste for kimchi. I received a lot of teasing from my fellow GI soldiers over this but I didn't care. my wife used to make kimchi all the time but with the rise of the modern day super market every thing is already pre-made and packaged its hard to get her to cook like she did when we were younger. Any ways thank you for this segment. What type of kimchi do Koreans eat who are on a salt free or salt restricted diet?
she’s so dedicated to kimchi making it’s so inspiring 😭
i love kimchi since i was a kid till now 23 year old me and i realize it's good for health and tons of nutritions!
