I had a 7 lb red little wiener dog named Stella. She never was one bit of trouble the entire time I had her. She never barked unless somebody was at the door which was useful anyway. It always amazed me with her little legs she could jump up on my bed that was almost 3 ft off the ground. She was absolutely most loving wonderful little thing you could ever imagine The only thing better was the girl that owned her. It's been 15 years and I still miss that dog everyday. I still dream about both of them almost every night. Makes it very difficult to get over.

Dachshunds are absolutely GREAT, They have such a happy free spirit, and are so loyal, they love to be held, kissed, and you tell them that they are the Best. Seriously, they believe you and understand, such loving dogs, Full Of Energy ........The Best !!

I've had them most of my life. No better dog in my opinion. Smart, loyal, friendly, feisty and stubborn as mules. I love them💖💖

the "dachshund is a big dog in a little dog suit" describe my doxie, Max, perfectly. I walk my dog at a wildlife management area where we meet a lot of "field dogs" the retrievers, pointers, spaniels who are much larger, faster and have energy to burn. Yet, Max mixes it up with them, the playing and chasing. Max can't catch those dogs, but he sure as hell tries and he doesn't let the bigger dogs try to bully him either. I like his boldness.

I just lost my dachshund of 14 years on wednesday he was such a good boy. His name was pretzel I could not have asked for a better dog. I got him was I was 6 and now I am 20. I had some great years with this dog he was loyal and would stick by your side when things got tough. I would recommend this breed to anyone because I loved my guy and I sure you guys do to RIP Pretzel I love you buddy.

Dachshunds are totally underrated.

TheCrunchySopa I don't think my family could ever get another kind of dog. We still have our first one, and we're obsessed with the breed now. My parents want to get two next time, when our current dog sadly but eventually passes away.

Dachshunds are spoiled????? heck mine has spoiled me terribly. Why? I'm disabled and she has trained herself to be a service dog. I take no credit for her training. She did it on her own.

Once you go dachshund, no other breed will do For the first time in my life I have a song dedicated to " Holly", our beloved doxie that we had to put to sleep Music usually reminds you of past loves of the opposite sex.. I don't even think a human can give that type of unconditional love.

had one for 16 years! he was awesome I miss him every day he was my best friend I couldnt have asked for a better dog

I'm sorry for your loss, I lost a dachshund in 2009 her name was Sadie she was a red long haired. Time went by so fast, before I knew it she was 12 going on 13 and became anemic two months before her 13th birthday. I was heartbroken. 3 days later I saw a miniature long-haired dapple at the pet store of course I brought her home and she has been the best little dog. She keeps me company, protects me from strangers. She also keeps the birds and the squirrels out of my yard. She digs up walnuts all the time even though they're not good for her it's impossible to keep her away from them because the squirrels are always burying them in the yard. I hope you were able to give love to another Dachshund because these dogs always have love to give💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Doxies are the ultimate mix of pure love, spoilt, intelligence and cute. Their confidence is cute, they seem to have no idea of their size. best breed ever

I never know much about dachshund except that they are the 'sausage', and suddenly i had to raise one because my cousin abandoned his. So I adopted him. Must be one of the best decision of my life.

I've had four dachshunds in my lifetime and all of them have been the light of my life.

All of these women remind me of my mother! She loves her 14 year old Dachshund soooo much!

i have a smooth coat miniature dachshund and YES, big bark, In your face, and Bold/AND YES shameslessly bold, he thinks hes the biggest dog ever. But he is very loyal to me. and that was all i needed :)

They are a very loyal breed. Ours is a Mommas Boy. LOL As he cuddles up with my Wife more than me, I do get some Daddy time every once in a while. LOL He will let you know if somebody is even near the house, very good ears and a fantastic nose.

I have a dachshund named Ace, he is very adventurous at times like when we walk him. I've had him for 8 years! Love him to death.

NEVER did I imagine owning one. Wasn't even a dog fan. 6 years later, I couldn't imagine not having him. They are unbelievable!! As for those who say they are hard to train.....I have mine pad trained and to go outside. Wasn't that difficult. Was trained fully within weeks. He does not go on anything but his pads or outside. He is such a joy with so much love and devotion. Comical too!!

If he wonders or get into trouble, He barks untill i go and get him. He won't leave his side. It just was natural for him to take care of my grandson. We're very lucky to own him

@gollapr Dachsies are great. First I didn't even THINK having one, but after I had my first mix dachsie and later got one from the shelter I was hooked. I prefer the lonhaired medium sized, but that of course is totally personal. I love their characters and somehow I know how to handle them. I don't have problems with them not listening to me and my dogs even stand next to my chickens and share food with them. My youngest had a bunny friend!!

I love Dachshunds because they are such sweet dogs to have and be around. I have one named pepper and he is by far the sweetest little guy I have ever had. I love him very much and I would do anything for him just to make sure that he is happy. Thank you for the video clip I really enjoyed it.

Good to know about the vocalizations we found a Long haired Dachshund puppy and a Chihauhua puppy a few days ago we had been keeping them in a crate as the Dach would bark and make a gurgling growl at our dogs. And yeah he barks at everything and he really likes watching my rat and birds lol. I have finally introduced him to my dog but he still makes that gurgling growl i have finally realized that he is just noisy not being aggressive.

I had A Boston Terrier and Doxie mixed... He was soo adorable... he had the long body with the longer leg and a mix of both in the face.. he was so loyal and fun... I miss my buddy soo much.

I told myself I would never own a Dachshund. One of my cousins had two. One broke her back from jumping off a sofa. Now I'm a proud owner of a Dachshund and want more of them!

I have 3 Minis 2 boys and a girl, B/T. They are the best dogs. Very loving, good watchdogs. They really love to eat, they would eat all day if I let them. They bring us joy everyday!

We have had four doxies. Three smooth and currently, a longhaired. We love them all. Best dog for us and all of ours are excellent swimmers and are fearful of water.

I go hiking with my dachshund everyday! I usually strap my water and supplies to its back and she has no problem even when we go up steep inclines....when she gets tired i have to yell and tug her leash really hard in a jerking fashion repeatedly but then she keeps going...I love my dachshund!

I haven't seen another breed that has the expressive facial expressions that dachshunds have, very expressive, very attentive. Some say they are not good with kids. They are good with kids that are part of the family, but are not good with kids who are strangers.

Mine was good with my kids and all their friends, when they were young, their friends would come over and they all had big dogs and these kids wanted to sit with ours and pet her, she thought it was great LOL

Dachshunds are the most loving, loyal companions. I've owned several throughout my life and they have all been a true blessing.

Every dog has different personality, jz like humans. Try look at Ceasar Millan's dog rehab youtube. You might find some answers ^_^ I'm getting a Dach too... did a thorough research... yeah... barking is the problem for some.

Danny Ting I could help you if yours barks. Mine did untill everytime she barked we either 1. put a muzzle on her 2. spray her with water or 3. put her in a cage if she barked. She does not bark at everything now x3

Hatsumi Koyanagi hello... any solutions for peeing all over the place. And my dach doesn't give warning before pooping... lol... But I hafta admit, he's a smart dog... I manage to silent him after 3rd nights of barking which caused him to loss his voice til now. Thankfully not like other owners who needed 2weeks. =P *phew

Danny Ting Well, what I did was everytime I saw my dog about to do its thing I grabbed her and put her out side... That kinda helped but you can also put them in a cage if that does not work.. And if both dont work get dog diapers and make your dog wear them :3

Despite being rather small and having such a unique shape, Dachshunds are actually very fine dogs of tremendous pluck and grit which is part of their popularity.

When I got my dachsie I got the warning she was very dominant. The first thing she did was biting the vet and he also warned me. I took a clicker course and within days I had results. She listens VERY WELL and walks with me without a leash. She's also very friendly and not dominant at all anymore. But with dachshunds you have to remember one rule very clearly . BE CONSEQUENT!!

Dachshunds are superb dogs for taking on hikes, as long as they are first conditioned, much as people must be. They are small hounds and they are made to track and hunt small game; they're very well suited to this and like most hound breeds they TROT, not run, but trot along. My dog pulled me along on my bike; it built him up beautifully; he was one, big glowing muscle until he was into his teens; it was horrible putting him down; he was a very fine dog.

I SO MUCH WANT THIS BREED ... THE BEST..... I will buy it this summer for sure...
