    Don’t you think the teacher was just doing what they should be doing. We don’t need to overly glorify teachers, I had many good ones and I had many bad ones, and mostly mediocre ones. I am pleased that this good teacher recognized the potential of the student and provided sage advice, as he should be doing. Enough about teachers, the teacher did not design the rocket engine, the student did. This is a crazy country where the greatest people are always police, fire department, And teachers, and the rest of us are a lower class. It is a logical fallacy to take the good example of one person and apply it to everyone in the same profession. The truth of the matter is this: in every single profession there are a few, and I mean quite a small few Who are truly excellent. Most are somewhat mediocre, not living up to their full potential. And a few are downright incompetent - The latter group generally gravitate into government bureaucracies.

  • @hellcat1988

    @hellcat1988

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@steveperreira5850 You sound personally offended. Might want to see a shrink about those issues. The reason we need to remember to praise these teachers is because without that nudge, many great minds never get very far. Study after study have shown that when you have a potentially brilliant child, with signs that they will quickly develop their intelligence given the right influences, they will falter in their development to about average with their piers without proper stimulation and guidance. Teachers tend to spend more active learning time with children than their families during those important, formative years where their minds could be stimulated, or left to rot. That push from his teacher might have been inconsequential, but it also likely could have been the ONLY reason he got to where he was and did what he did. Hindsight being what it is, we can't know for sure, but we have more than enough examples of the lack of that push leading to mediocrity to know just how important good teachers who focus on students and give them that push are.

It's worth keeping firmly in mind, however, that there's nothing to suggest that the massive dealbreakers that existed on the finalized item wouldn't have existed on a more idealized take: The need for massive expendability in the form of a fuel tank, and the gargantuan time and money sink of the heat shielding.

    Forget about bi-propellant engines. I'm working on a tri-propellant engine. The Specific Impulse could be as high as Isp 700. I need your help Tom to design the injector plate. Fuel mixture is extremely critical. Before Raptor I told SpaceX to ditch the Merlin and RP-1 for environmental reasons and switch to Methane - RP-1 is so 1968 Saturn V F-1. Glad to see they took my advice. The future of rocket engines will be the tri-propellant motor which is difficult to perfect.

    Even though raptor is going to take all the glory now, merlin was an astonishing achievement and such a massive increase in thrust to weight ratio never even heard of prior, outside of powdered rocket boosters. Glad to see this guy getting the credit now he deserves. Merlin is a fantastic work of art and engineering when it comes to rocket engines and this was the man responsible for making that happen.

    Nice video! We just made one about Steve Davis, there's a hilarious story where Musk has him create an electromechanical actuator for Falcon 1 from scratch. He spent 9 months on it and got it done, but Musk's reaction is just.... nothing other than what you would expect from a man trying to colonize another planet to say the least😂 Anyways, much love Cindy, keep killin it!
