his point on rebuild the company if you change people all the time is so true. That guy a genius.. I don't use that word easily. And I am kinda smart myself. And the positive psychology books that people still laugh bout to this day is also a genius move. Sometimes your mindset is bad. It's actually smart to improve it. The same way you hire one of the real men of his business to fix your basement.

Oh yes its hard to find skilled workers Its even harder to keep them I worked in a readymix concrete and block factory The profits was decreasing from 2011 - 2019 because of low demand, taxes and most importantly high government fees But we were profitable at least till upper management changed 50% of skilled workers to decrease cost Today they are loosing money and soon will close shop Its easier to demolish than to build

If every CEO had this man’s mindset and admiration for his own employees, people would actually take pride in their day jobs and not get burnt out after just a couple years. Working for a company where you feel like you’re basically invisible and your opinion and contributions don’t matter, will begin to eat away at you. Would love to work for this guy.

Great to see that he invests in his workers, not just equipment. And I have the feeling that anyone can speak with him, the way it should be.

As a construction worker. This video is way more relatable and motivating for me than guys in finance, shipping, or tech. Great relatability for me.

This guy gives off such wholesome vibes. The thing that really encapsulated his attitude for me was his misunderstanding of the phrase "Shit rolls downhill" - an expression that usually means that if your boss is in trouble they will try to palm it off to their subordinates. The fact he thinks the expression is the opposite of this says so much about him - that it should be the boss that deals with the problems, not the one palming off the problems to those below themselves.

Small jumps only require small risks, big jumps take big risks. We can see alot of people who take small jumps over a long period of time do well. We also see people who take big jumps do really well. What we don't look at are the failures, classic survivorship basis. I imagine if you take this guy's advice your life has a very good chance to be fruitful and happy, you take some crypto guru advice or gamble your money you're almost guaranteed to fail. The most important advice though is just to try being a entrepreneur, the chances of getting hit by lightning are small. Right up until you decide to hike up a mountain in the rain. Remember that people.

The thing about overnight success is that it takes a long damn time. People always forget the time that went by where people make lots of small jumps. They only remember the part after the system starts to return.

​@@zeusdarkgod7727 yeah I left the trades because of that haha. Wages have actually gone down slightly ($26.13 to $25.98 an hour) since 1960 in the construction industry. Not worth it when you're not an electrician or HVAC guy. There are a few other trades that make okay money, but it's still barely worth the amount of back breaking work that's required lol.

I worked in construction all my life. This guy recognizing his employees like that filled my hearth with pride and joy. He is a real leader. I would bust my ass for a boss like that.

I love how his own son is a chip off the old block and is putting in just as much productivity and not just living off of his father's efforts. That shows just how much love admiration and respect he has for his dad.

This guy is probably my favorite billionaire. He's a humble dude who isn't in this for the money but rather delivering a quality services/products to people and treating the people who make those products/do those services with respect and dignity. That's what a real CEO should be. Someone who puts their people and product first ethically. I also love how much he's for creating a better environment too.

I am also just retiring from the police force after 28 years. His description of the people dropping off a dead baby at the front counter conjures up a lot of emotion. There are a lot of callous people out there who don’t emotionally process things like a “normal person”. Police and other first responders are regularly in contact with people like this. There’s no way to describe how that makes you feel. It breaks you. And this veteran came out of the Vietnam War. Unbelievable. I am so impressed with how he handled this interview. Courageous is not a big enough word to describe him. Thank you to him and all Veterans past and present as well, law enforcement personnel for their service! 🙏

I like him already! He SO nailed it when he said that what is more important than money is that he has made a positive impact on the world and will leave it better than he found it. Bingo.

Pbatesltd is young. Holding almost anything mentioned here is a good hold because the VHS or Beta will only show in time. I want to hold them early. Its sad that most dont think of these things as good future holds instead of being out of the market and bottom hunting. Are we the adopters or are we scavengers? surely one of these layer ones will become the standard and i dont want to sell any of them too early.

Im the most amazed how he seems to delegate responsibilities to the right people and understands that a high personal change is a very bad thing to have in your company. I have worked at companies with a lot of potential but with the owners having a mindset of they are the company, forgetting the employees.

I am going to look her up, I have about $81k i want to start with, might be small but it's better than nothing though. Since the 08 crash is playing out again.

This guyyyy is super calm and super wise. There is an aura about him and the way he talks and works. I weaved so much game from this session. He kinda gave me a new insight about his views on the recent tech trends.

Just seems like a nice, down to earth, hard working and decent man. A great boss. These are the people who should have success.

Putting up plastic in the crawl space with a Dehumidifier is completely Wrong on every level the plastic is a health hazard and fire hazard and the dehumidifier uses tons of electric. All you need to do is devert the downspout water far from the house.

I think this is the best interview of a multimillionaire I have ever seen. Literally down to earth. I am not even sure if those high profile tech billionaires even know how to fix a leaky roof or plumbing.

I love how this shows that having a CEO that started with his hands in the dirt will understand what really matters. Not someone from harvard business school that hasn't held a screwdriver in their life. Good for you man, great job. ​@@BleedForTheWorldIts not the same at all, i dont know about a company but in the army People respect way more to Officers who were prior enlisted soldiers who did the same thing as them compared to the ones who just got out of a military school and come give orders. They run things completely different as one actually has prior experience and can empathize with the people he gives orders while the otherone doesn't.

Yeah, this CEO wasn't exactly born with a silver spoon but their place in the order is exactly the same as any other CEO, attaining value from the labor production of others.

@@BleedForTheWorld You could also say the same thing for a professor in school, they all have the same position but some of them absolutely suck and some are really good at teaching, and their methods of teaching impact students. same thing for leaders of a company and workers.

Technical classes in highschool are awesome. Need more of those. I took electrical technology (electrician / electrical engineering path) and learned a lot. Got a summer job doing electrical work and gained valuable experience. I didn't choose that path, but it improved my understanding of how the world works. Kids need these practical skills and perspectives.

I am fully confident in my abilities to achieve my goals and succeed in whatever I set my mind to. I know that I have the skills, knowledge, and determination to overcome any challenge that comes my way. I trust myself to make the right decisions and take the necessary actions to create the life that I want. I am not afraid to take risks and step out of my comfort zone because I believe in my ability to handle whatever comes my way. I am unstoppable!

What a video Noah! Thanks for putting this out. I love how Larry is a sorted, worked-through-the-school-of-hardknocks kind of a guy. Built a massive business, but understood the value of family time. Makes me re-instill my faith simple old school businesses. I particularly loved the point about the constant churn and how you're starting fresh every twenty four months. Goes to show how longevity and continuous improvement, compounds over time. 40+ years of compounding! Great video again, Noah. Foundational repair requires you to rip up half the property and put it back together, you're gonna need an inspector, plumber, electrician, land surveyor, build planner, heavy equipment operator, and someone that does walling/flooring/roofing/painting. A lot of these jobs are labor intensive, require licensing, state law knowledge, material science understanding, physics, math, etcs. They get paid real money because they create real value, they're not crack-heads doing half ass dry walling.

I was skeptical until he started talking about the business. Some of the biggest businesses dont understand investing in employees. They let people struggle financially or turnover. It hurts the workforce and the companies. No one wins. Good video.

Amazing video and person. Ive been trying to tell my manager the same thing over the last year, working 70 hours a week, youre doing it wrong. And they wonder why the group has such high turnover, as Im also looking to leave after just a year. Management skills are at an all time low, and Larry is a reminder of how it SHOULD be done. We need a longer video on Larry!
