The Atlântico does not have a historical background but I will say this. The project design behind the battleship Atlântico originally dates back into the 1910s. HMS Agincourt, the Tier III premium British battleship is one of those ships created under those requirements. Instead of 305 mm main guns, the ships outfitted with five BL 15-inch Mark I naval guns, the same guns found on the Queen Elizabeth-class battleships and the secondary battery was inspired by the Lord Nelson-class pre-dreadnaught type battleships. If history would have been turning in an alternative course, the Atlântico would have been constructed in the British dockyards in the 1910s. However, the dockyards as well as all British-made warships were occupied by the Royal Navy since WWI broke out.

Hmm, you're part of the way there on the story. The Brazilian navy did indeed order what would become HMS Agincourt however if I remember correctly they ran out of money and the Turkish navy took on the expense of the project. It was very close to the outbreak of World War 1 and the British government decided to take the ship over and use her for the Royal Navy. The Turks weren't exactly chuffed. Drachinfel did a good video about it.

To provide additional info, Atlantico is based on a combination of 3 different designs, though it still received significant changes. The armor and main armament is mostly based on Armstrong's Design 782, a preliminary design for the never built super dreadnought Riachuelo, which was also meant to have 5x2 381mm main battery and a 343mm belt. The hull, however, does not match 782, as that project had the middle turret facing forward, not backwards, as well as a different funnel, among other smaller differences, and so the closest design in this regard is Design 685, a preliminary design for the battleship Rio de Janeiro (later Agincourt) that carried 5x2 406mm guns on the same configuration we see in Atlantico. Lastly, Design 686 is from where Atlantico's concept of having a large caliber secondary battery, otherwise referred as an intermediate battery, comes from, though the design itself is widely different, carrying only 4x2 406mm guns and 3x2 240mm secondaries. Their idea to mix these designs and concepts into a single ship stronger than the sum of its parts is unrealistic, but it is still interesting to see from where it all came.

I really hope they add ships from my country Chile in the Pan-American line a start could be the battleship Almirante Latorre or Almirante Cochrane basically two Iron Dukes modified to our specifications with more weapons or larger caliber if I'm not mistaken. while I'm happy that a Latin American battleship is added that never really existed, but it's the same from our American neighbor Brazil🇧🇷 greetings from Chile🇨🇱 spartan!

I'm very happy to see a Brazilian ship in the game but I'm sad it's too expensive to buy it lol.. Let's hope they will add a pan American line in the game someday.. Agincourt is a fun ship to play and Atlântico seems like it too, that would be a promising BB line.. anyway, thanks for bring it to the channel! 🇧🇷

One interesting thing about the British projects for the Brazilian navy is that all of them have this Agincourt/Fuso style configuration of "guns of plenty".. one project of the "Riachuelo" class would include 10x2 main 381mm guns plus the secondaries.. there was another that included the same amount of guns but 406's.. that would be nasty, ngl

It reminds of the Hood had she survived her battle with Bismarck and been fully refitted.

She is a secondary monster. you really want to have her built for secondaries, she will brawl like a dream.

Every Atlantico I've seen has gotten absolutely smashed.

Multi tool seems like a great inspiration for CV commanders

The commander while not optimal is serviceable. I run her like a heavy cruiser so I picked speed qn agility traits, inspirations are Cunningham and the German secondary commander. She turns pretty good, the guns are accurate, and the secondaries can chew into almost everything.

the two marks mean the Gun and Turret, i believe the first means the gun and the second means the turret

If I'm being honest, sounds like Santos might become a perfect Inspiration Commander for Carriers. Boosts torpedo damage (doesn't specifically say ship torpedoes), also boosts main gun shells AND PLANES' damage. Reading between the lines it seems that, at max level and combining both percentages, 3.5% + 3.5% = 7%. Add in Japanese DD Commander Tanaka's skill Hull Crusher which boosts torpedo damage to about 5%. 7% + 5% = 12%. This means that, if I'm right, Carrier torpedoes can potentially deal 12% more damage to ships. Bombs would depend on the Nation Line, Commander Base and Legendary Skill but I'm mentioning the torps because it's easier math and statistics for me to think on. still not shelling out $90 for the deluxe bundle but might be enticed to get the ship itself if it comes with Santos by default

Was just in a game with this ship, full salvo into the water in front of me, but yeah, this secondaries hurt when going toe to toe with it and a Bismarck and a Sinop in a Scharnhorst

Whew, those big boy secondary guns. Add Justin Lyon for the extra fire buff, with reload secondary perk. Whew. At T7 LOL

There are not many options in game yet for the Pan American line, Atlantico was actually the first one released on pc and that by dockyard. They haven't even opened the tech tree for the line yet, like the Commonwealth line is solely premium ships.

She's got really solid armor. My division mate took a broadside point blank salvo from a New Jersey and walked away with like 8k damage from it. That's damn solid. Also seems to have British AP shells (yes I know, British guns, don't jump up my ass trying to learn me something cause guns don't necessarily translate to shell characteristics) which is great because British AP above 13" tends to way outperform HE anyway (Hood and Vanguard main here, fight me about it lol) What's sad is you can't build into accuracy or secondaries so because of the commander so it's kinda pre-nerfed out of the box for the moment. As a side note it is actually hilarious that the 234 secondaries are literally larger caliber than the main guns 🤣

I hope they add a proper BB commander for the pan American tree

The Cheshire at tier VI has the 234 guns as its main battery. I don't recall any British tier V having such guns. That aside Atlantico seems to be an... Interesting ship although getting a general purpose commander really hobbles its effectiveness. What bothers me is that if they gave us a general commander with the first ship of a new nation it means either pay-to-play is coming down the pipe, OR it means that it is the only commander currently for that nation which is possible as Atlantico is the first and only Pan-American ship at the moment.

I'm building the antlantico with AA and range for a sniper build. It seems slow. I'm upgrading this commander to slot onto Otto cilliax for German battlecruisers 💪 just gotta figure a good way to build them. But I'm waiting for more commanders as well

I haven't finished my build yet trying to decide between Haruna or Hipper but if you exchange one of them for Cunningham you will be much pleased with the main guns. I'm having no problems hitting where I aim. Other then that our builds are the same.

Do you think they stuck to a standard commander because everyone complained so much when Roma came with just a brawler commander? So, instead of releasing either an accuracy or brawler commander, they stuck to generic until the line releases? I'm not saying I agree with the decision, but I can understand a bit why they would.

Yes but you have to uninstall it from one ship to move to another. DO NOT SELL THE MOD! Click Uninstall. It costs 250 Doubloons to do so though.

As much I love this game the WG develpers really are in the hands of the revenue departmeant atm it shines tru everything and it is devestating for the future of the game free to play well that is gone.I am sure for us that comes from WOT are very familiam with the chosen path for the game it will reach a point that cuts the playerbase in half.

@@SpartanElite43 just an idea, more comprehensive videos on commander builds cuz I'm not a new player by any means but say my Montana ill have 10 out of 12 hits in a single Salvo on something like a broadside conquerer and be lucky to get 3500 damage, I want the ships that slap for everyone else to slap for me lol cuz none of em are at this time lol
