Marlyne Skaff Actually Sue was Sue Shifrin throughput the marriage and post divorce as well, she only started using Cassidy AFTER David Passed away! She wanted the I’m still a grieving “wife” attention but unfortunately it was quickly called back to the fact she filed and kept a close eye on his assets even after he filed bankruptcy.. and she left him at the time he needed someone to see the “REAL” David inside, not just the Pop persona.. What happened to your vows Ms Shifrin? Or wasn’t the For richer for poorer in SICKNESS and in Health, Til DEATH do part us in your vows to David? You were already a semi-songwriter in the music industry for a blip of a moment, and with only mediocre songs at best.. when you eyed David... funny how he talked about how you just kinda showed up and moved in one day, I’ll admit that takes Chutzpah! Then you just needed to secure a link to him so you got pregnant knowing David would do the right thing.. You’re pathetic and sad and it’s huh uhm “women” like you get your hands on people who only know how to love unconditionally and with every fiber of their being.. Wow, some of the comments on here. This woman lived with David Cassidy day to day for real. We don't know what she experienced. But some of us know that staying with an addict can become self-destructive, can become impossible, can become something you have to leave to save yourself. The hatred toward her on here is nuts. People are thinking of an idea of person they've had for many decades, not the person he really was. I had a crush on David too in the 1970s. That doesn't mean I have any idea what it was like to be with him then, or 40 years later.

She said she started to Rediscover herself when she was 50 well David started drinking roundabout the same time , And maybe the more she liked her freedom the more he felt alone and sad and he drank , I've watched loads of videos where he said he was lonley , NO before I get beat down I'm NOT blaming her after all no one knows what is going on in someone's home unless they live there . But it just seems to add up that she wanted her own life , her way , and we know the rest . Anyway you will always be loved David x

David died from liver disease caused by his excessive drinking. My father died of non-Alcoholic liver disease. Liver disease affects your brain, saying my father wasn’t himself his last 8 months is an understatement. In David’s last year he acted & spoke just like my father did...crazy!

Well, it's hard to say what we would do with a hypothetical. But with an addict, it can become self-destructive to stay with them. It can become impossible.

David was living with another woman.

She chased him down and wouldn't let go. He wouldn't have stayed with her if they didn't have Beau. They looked mismatched. AND on another note it was Sue who kept David from seeing Katie. She only wanted David to have Beau in his life. Very sad

Sue seems like shes playing the victim. She was very lucky to have snagged David.

Why does she have to be so public about her private life any way? Whatever happened between herself and David should remain private. Why do people have to be so public about their private marital circumstances ? She could have left the marriage quietly eventually before he became ill or tried to help him with his addictions . Did he become abusive? One never knows . Its not our business to make judgements about either of them as much as she should not be so public about her situation with her deceased ex husband. He is not around to defend himself and so it is inappropriate of her to be this public about what happened between them. Yes she is quite needy for public recognition and this seems trite and childish rather than truly forgiving , kind or womanly. No one is perfect I guess. She should just let things be and get on with her own life now quietly and dignified . What is wrong with being a complete Lady?

People fall in love with an image. Reality comes after the delusion is uncovered. Hollywood is a fake world where people are portrayed as God's. Most of them end up on the front page of the paper as failures in their personal lives. Ordinary people who keep families together and work a real job and go to church are the real heroes we should idealize.

I do not know what David seen in her physically. Perhaps he was older and settled

We don't really know the whole story, the whole picture. I saw David say in one interview that Sue said or would say his drinking turned him into a (the word was bleeped). If his drunken behavior was horrible for several years, there comes a point sometimes when a person cannot deal with it any longer. His mother died in 2012 and according to David, she was disappearing to dementia before that and he said he was unable to go see her without being drunk, that he couldn't handle it. This whole thing is very sad, although sad things do happen for many people. As the years pass, life often does get more difficult. I wish the best for both Sue and David and everyone.

@@aprildannette9820 David lied about that. He was never diagnosed with Dementia. He was an alcoholic and died from it.

What makes her an "amazing person who reinvented herself"? Was it because she couldn't handle the fact Cassidy was diagnosed with dementia & thought it best to "reinvent herself"? Even though he just recently came out with the info, she knew for sometime because of his symptoms. He only quit touring & came out with the info when the memory problems were very apparent to everyone else. So, did Sue's idea of a marriage mean she'd say she would stay "forever" but only if he was able to provide financially for her. If he were to be diagnosed with a long term disease that would diminish his capacity to function, then she would be able to walk out the door & he would have to find someone else to take care of him?

Have zero respect for sue shiffrin, marriage is for better or worse but as soon as the road got tough she walked out, did not recognise how lucky she was to have a husband as beautiful as David and she did not have the decency to be with him and support him at a time when he needed it most, if she had he may still be with us today.

If she nd Over him,like he deserved he would still be here he broke his heart long with hi father

To all the commenters who have mean things to say, you haven’t walked a mile in her shoes. Being married to a person who is super famous and has avid fans can’t be easy. The attitudes your comments reflect are what contributes to the challenges she faced, along with David’s serious health issues. Let’s try being kind. I’m positive that is what David would have wanted.

I don't find her in any way inspirational. If she had to take a back seat all the time, she should have left him years ago. She is either weak or just loved using David Cassidy's name.

Patricia Maguire actually she was both. Weak trying to come off independent, but desperately needing his name for the sake of recognition and money. Its so obvious.

She was lucky to have been Mrs. David Cassidy...she's not a nice person..she didn't want David to be with his daughter Katie by another woman..she's all in it for herself..their son Beau looks just like her..poor kid.

He could have done so much better. His son looks like her with massive sharp features. His daughter is just beautiful.

If it were just the dementia, it would be sad, but apparently it was his drinking and resulting behavior before that, and then at least 2 other new girlfriends he had that finally drove her to divorce. Tough situation for everyone.

I don't understand it I really don't you never ever see her without makeup she's always wearing makeup. For once I would like to see this woman without makeup. And as far as her son Bo goes he is nothing like David or his grandson Jack the looks the dimples the Charisma the talent. His father and grandfather were completely gorgeous Bo he's all his mother I don't see David in him at all. Well anyway that's how I feel. Let Bo stay with his mother could because he has nothing of his father and grandfather in him

I think Sue Shifrin-Cassidy's a very smart, strong, good, positively uplifting, and lovely lady. I'll always only like and respect her.
