Hey ronda! love from illinois! Im 52 now, but back when I was 8 years old I live on a farm with my mom and dad. we had 4 pigs and one day I named all four of them. my dad lost his mind when he found out I named the pigs. He jumped on my moms case, "why did you let him name those pigs?" he was sure in the fall when harvest time came, there was gonna be a lot of heartbreak. I told him "dad its ok. I understand in the fall these pigs are gonna be sausage and ham." he said "ok as long as you know that" I would always scratch the pigs back and go to the apple trees and collect apples for them. The pigs loved it! No pig ever had better life than those pigs did. I was taught at an early age that the animals should never in their life be hungry, thirsty, or afraid. But at the same time remember: one day they will be gone. I really relate to everything you and travis do. Its great your teaching travis's kids that too.
