My husband and I are both Vet Techs which means we have taken in a bunch of owner surrenders. We now have 12 cats, 5 dogs, a ferret, a bearded dragon, and a couple of parakeets. People judge us too, but the facts are that you know your own limits. Especially if you’ve been in the veterinary field. It’s just different for people like us. Thank you for helping the piggies 💕🐾

People around my area throw out cats so we ended up with 8 cats, we got 2 dogs, 2 hamsters, 2 ferrets that I rescued from my brother that neglected them, 2 guinea pigs that i rescued from a former friend that neglected his guinea pigs (they got bumble foot due to all the feces and wet aspen (urine). i am very happy with my pets even though I get alot of judgement. Aslong as you can afford/take care of all of them then its not too many pets. Both of the guinea pigs have a 22sq ft cage :)

I'm the same way. Not a Vet Tech, but I can't have human children, but I have a lot of love to give, so I foster and adopt lots of animals. I laugh when people ask if I'm a cat or dog person. I'm just an animal person!

If the money and time issues have been answered, then I dont see problem with it, but. But. I could never take a large amount of pets, because I would worry that in a case of emergency (like a fire) would i have time to grab the animals, put them into a random bag or a pocket (my winter jacket has big pockets) and run out? Or would it take too long and some of them would die? Also, if something happens to me (i end up in a hospital etc)z, is it easy for someone else to take care of them for a while? Even with written instructions?

Many years ago, when I was young, I ran a rescue (for over 30 yrs) and I saw a woman on the news who adopted 2 rats from me. Turns out she was a hoarder. I called Animal control who I dealt with and they knew of me of course. I explained to them what happened and a light bulb went on in their brain. They decided to ask me to foster and adopt out all the small animals including two ferrets and those Degu's too. I explained I had a small animal show I was attending out of town and I could see about adopting some out there. Than they dropped the bomb it was over 60 mice, rats, Guinea pigs, Degu's oh and I just remembered, a sugar glider with MBD and so on but when I mentioned the show they decided I should take them all. 63 animals and paperwork (still have it at my Moms in Florida 🥰) It doesn't end there though, I told them I was full, so about 60 small animals in my home already. Their solution to make sure I was okay to take more was a drop in visit, we will be at your door in 10 mins 😅😆🤣 and they were. My charges were kept clean at all times, my house had no odor so a drop in visit was no problem. They brought the animals and their cages with them as some had been in my home before and knew I was a good care taker. The only thing I remember that stands out was the guy officer said, make sure they all get rehomed at the show or very soon after. 😊 all that to say, kiddo, when your job is taking care of your animals, it is not a numbers thing, it is a time and money thing. Your animals are well cared for. You teach so many proper husbandry. This is not something everyone should do or could do but we know you got those babies covered. Maybe do a write up so you can copy and paste to the doubters but honestly, try not to let them get to you. You are amazing and you got this. XOXOXOXO 🐶🐕‍🦺🐩🦝🐱🐯🐴🦓

As long as your animals are being taken care of properly it shouldn't matter the number! Everything you've ever shown has shown you taking good care of all of your animals! They seem happy and you've helped a lot of animals out of bad situations. The haters just don't know what they're talking about! And thank you for fostering, it is very needed and not a lot of people do it!

im a guinea pig foster for two rescues in my province and the moment when the new family sees their new pig or pigs is my favourite part of fostering. all of the pets my family has owned (except for one) has been adopted so i know what the new family is feeling and that helps me with any sadness over not seeing the animal anymore. if the fosters of my pets didn't give them up i never would have had all of those good memories. out of 3 dogs and ~20 guinea pigs i've only ever foster failed on one pig because she became besties with one of my more difficult pigs, everyone else found new homes

Thank you for helping the rescue out! I also fostered once, a 14 year old cat, I had her for 2 years when sadly we had to put her to sleep as she had cancer. I personally wouldn’t foster again because of my bad experience with the ‘rescue’ not once did they help me out with her, wouldn’t pay for any vet trips, food etc. But saying that, I’d save her again in a heartbeat! She was amazing and came on so well the time I had her ❤️

I work at Petsmart and actually those water bottles are the same ones that we used to use there. They just changed them out because they got new enclosures, at least at my location, and they finally changed out the water bottles. Those water bottles would be fine one day and then all the sudden they would keep leaking and we would have to constantly change out the bedding because of that. It’s so weird that they got good reviews. All my coworkers and I have had trouble with them and were so happy that they finally got rid of them.

I foster cats and dogs, mostly cats I have 2 foster cats ATM lavy and Tallulah. It's so rewarding but it can be hard especially when you have them for a while. I've had lavy since November and Tallulah since December (she was very sick)

Alyssa you should be able to feel the babies in momma by now. That's how I confirmed the second piggie I rescued was pregnant. Also for piggies who don't like veg try wild dandelion and endive. Worked for one of my piggies and now he's good with most veg and fruit.

when i had adopted a older piggy from pet store he used to scream whenever you touched him or anything in the end he got used to it but he also used to just scream lol he was older so i just got him so he would have a home before he passed they said he was the oldest one there i named him mr nibbles and mr nibbles lived 1 year after i adopted him and he was happy and healthy is sad how scared they are poor babies

I have a piggie like that and I just added extra hides and added a blanket to borrow under also I know that Guinea dad fleece has burrow pockets but I only added a blanket and extra hides and used bulldog clips to clip it to the c and c grids and that helped mine! of course I’m no expert or Alyssa but that’s what I’ve found helpful!

Awe this is so exciting, I really want another or 2 guinea pigs but I have my hands full with 2 autistic kids that don't talk yet and 2 dogs lol after my kids grow up a little I plan to get some more guinea pigs.
