I'm 67 and my dad raised 4 kids by himself, he would take myself and my younger sister down home to Red Boiling Springs Tenn . I would stay with my granny my sis would stay with Red and Hazles an aunt and uncle. I always wanted to write a book, my life was so full with adventures and work on the farm. I grew up in Detroit the rest of the year , I would not give up the life I was so blessed to have. I feel so sorry for today's youths . I could go on but I love your shows. Keep up the good word. Peace be with you.

I'm watching from southern Missouri. For many years, as a young adult, I rejected rural life, and instead chose city life in southern Calif. But when raising my own children, i chose to return to small-town life in MO. Now I'm retired and living in a log cabin that used to be a church. Two of my kids, now in their 30s, have also chosen to live in cabins, in Montana.

My mom was born in Southern California, but she got tired of big city life and in her 60s, decided to move across the road from her good friend she knew since high school in Raymondville, Missouri. She passed away a few years ago. She was happy there and loved the rural life…

Wow, @ Mr. Ward, I just run across your videos today, what a pleasure your sweet mom is! She looks so familiar. You do as well. I absolutely love these videos from the Appalachian. My mom was raised in Clinch More. Julia Faye Wilson Phillips and my dad in New River, Rev. B.Ray Phillips. They both talked of Beech Fork many times as us children of six were growing up. It has become some of my favorite memories since their passing's of about three years ago, three months apart. Again, thanks so much.
