Fern is beautiful. Runners are amazing ducks. I have one called Yasmin. I use to have 2 fawn and white runners. Fern looks like the American Fawn and White.

Runner ducks lay the most eggs similar to chicken eggs. Larger ducks lay fewer eggs with very large yolks,

My Pekins used to lay HUGE eggs when they were younger.

Lisa, the world is a small place sometimes 🤣 I’ve ordered my first flock of Runners today and because I’ve been watching so many duck videos lately, this video popped up on KZread. I was interested to find out more about you and it turns out that you actually live in my neighbor town 😂 I hope I can learn a thing or two about Runners from you. I have a Indian runner as well. She wont ever leave my side. She always wants to be with me.

My Indian fawn runner was a male and he was the most social duck out of all of mine. He would literally let us pick him up & pet him. I’ve seen other Indian runners very social. But I did a lot of holding and handling of him when he was a tiny little duckling.

There aren't as many breeds as chickens, but there are a few.

Omg very envious that you have Fern. What an interesting duck. I really like your video. Thank you for posting. I'm thinking that Beatrix Potter's 'Jemima Puddle Duck' was perhaps an Indian Runner Duck? The little white books about Peter Rabbit and such?

There is an Indian runner that lives wild at a lake near where I live. I named him Hector, and visit him to feed him regularly.

Runners are neat. But, I live in a suburban area with not much property for foraging, so, I settled on Welsh Harlequins, which I believe have some Runner in them. Welsh Harlequins are less energetic and less skittish so they are the perfect duck for me. I have five girls and love them, a very good breed.

Yes, runners are a bit more active than the other breeds.

I am planning to bring two ducks into my life, and I'm having a really hard time deciding on the different breeds I want. I have decided on one being a Welsh Harlequin, but am going back and forth on the second one...?.....Indian runner, Cayuga, or a Peking duck.??? They will be strictly pets , and for getting rid of my abundant amout of snails, slugs, and other insects, and the bonus of fresh eggs. (Truthfully when I found out that ducks loved eating bug, well thats what has lead me down this path of getting a duck).I was going towards the Runner because of it love of snails and slugs and their entertainment value..?..but when I talked to a gal of the hatchery she tried to talk me into a different breed........I realize by reading many articles that if you spead alot of time with them when they are young that the bond will be strong and that you will be seen as their moma.....That being said just like people ducks can differ duck from duck......I just dont know what to thimk or do to make this decision......Flip a coin😉🤯 I have done alot of research, and one thing I have found is that not everyone agrees the same way when it comes down to whether a duck makes a good pet or whether its a noisy duck, ect.

We love our ducks. They are actually more quiet than our chickens! We love them all. Runners, pekin, cayuga...... You really can't go wrong with any of them.

Oh thank you. She's a blue Magpie.

I live in the EU, in Lithuania and have long wanted to have such ducks, but they are not at all popular in our country. A lot of people don't even know about them. Maybe you know where duck eggs are sold in Europe so they can be mailed to me. Thank You
