What does LTV stands for, please?

The explanation for bipap was confusing. How does the LTV combine the numbers for PIP and PEEP? Why would we set the PIP and PEEP both to 6 for a 12/6 setting?

Pip 6+ peep 6= 12 over 6 peep

12 over 6 LTV demands you subtract the peep from the PIP. The new PIP becomes 6. The peep stays the original number. 12 - 6 = 6 6 over 6
