Meditation: Nothing Can Make You Happy

What does it take to be happy? In this meditation, we investigate our search for happiness. We discover that happiness does not depend on circumstances but instead only on that which takes place in our mind and heart. To experience continuous peace and happiness is to say 'yes' to our current circumstances, and 'yes' is a choice we make moment to moment. Happiness is what we are, not what we do.

@@Alix777. yes, i understand you very well. I suffered with anxiety and panic attacks for years. Your thoughts are causing your suffering. The urge to pee without need is psychosomatic reaction to your anxiety. So in fact you are unconsciously choosing to suffer in this moment by being occupied completely by your mind. But i have some good news for you my friend. You have already awakened to this path. Otherwise you wouldn't be commenting under this video like you did. Just let everything go now. Just let everything is as it is. Don't resist the present moment. It's insane to resist the only thing that ever exists in life. Surrender to whatever you feel now. Surrender like it would be there forever. (Nothing lasts forever everything is constantly changing but your surrender has to be complete) Don't surrender by your mind. Surrender with your whole being. The light is always shining within you. Even when it's seemingly obscured by your thoughts. I or Rupert or anyone else has nothing more or less than you do. @@alondraacosta-mora6504 Hi, it's very common trap on this path to cling to our spiritual experiences. Never attach yourself in to any experience, no matter how good it feels. Just let everything be as it is. You can never reach any past spiritual experience again by clinging on to them and trying to make it come back. It's just a memory, by trying to make this moment in to some other than it is, is resistance to life itself. It's insane. Why would you want something to be different from what it is right now? Why can't you just take life as it is? Who is the one that is resisting your experience right now at this moment? Who is the one that has problem with what is currently present? Could it be just a thought that you take to be as yourself? It's a inner conflict with having a thought that says no to what is, the problem is not the thought but the fact that you identify with your thoughts. You are the one aware of both this moment and the thought. And they both arise from you. You are the space in which your experience is happening. No matter if you feel good or bad, it doesn't change the fact that you are infinite awareness in which everything happens. It includes both good and bad. Just rest as awareness and completely allow yourself to feel whatever you feel. If you don't feel anything allow yourself to not feel anything. Be interested about your suffering. Try to get to know what it is made of.

I think if I said to my wife 'you fulfill a need in me' she may also consider throwing me out since dependency is not the same as freely given love. It's the way the phrase is understood. Rupert is the lost jewel among the great masters, his impact has not been much in line with his deep and direct teaching. I have not seen much material from him, my English is limited and he uses more complex language than other spiritual teachers I listen to. But these days that I have had a deep confusion about human love, I have chosen to watch Krisnamurti's documentary to look for answers, answers that, he himself points out, he does not have, but each one has it in himself. His teachings are also extraordinary, one of my favorites for the directness and no possibilities that it leaves us to escape the truth. At the end of the documentary, I had recommended Ruper's video, and I was struck by the title: "Nothing Can Make You Happy" I have seen only the first 3 minutes I have needed to stop, I have seen his pointing for a long time in other teachers, but today, it has been, how Rupert knows how to do it, direct and accurate with so few words, and it has made me need to pause the video. My life experience, to this day makes me feel that I have had my heart broken for too many years, and tears of frustration come to my eyes a bit for not feeling that happiness in me and knowing that what I feel when loving another human being is the The most wonderful experience I have ever had, the greatest happiness I have ever experienced, and it is a fucking fantasy of the mental ego, so I have never felt true happiness?

There was a fellow prisoner who used to say “we are so lucky!” He was happy they had the opportunity to pay for their sins and therefore be free before God. It is the fact of his acceptance of intolerable conditions that seems to exemplify Rupert’s discussion.

I'm completely new to this so I assume many of you will disagree about what am I going to say. Anyway, while I find this fascinating and true to some extent it gets me thinking - what is the point of chasing anything material in life then if we could simply feel happy all the time because we are not dependent on money/luxury/relationships to feel happy? It seems to me like we would stop in one place and never improve as a mankind if we would give up on trying to chase the happiness. It feels like double-edged sword, while we do find happiness within us and realise that we don't need anything else around us to make us happy, that also means that we stop chasing any kind of achievements or improvements in our lives.

I realized this over a year ago & lived ever so fully! But slowly forgot this realization & fell back into depression, frustration & apathy. Until a few days ago I realized I’ve been looking for happiness all this time which implies/confirms/is me admitting that I’m unhappy. If I simply cease to look for happiness then I’m implying the opposite. Meaning if I was happy would I search for happiness? 😎

The physical sensation of happiness comes from several hormones released into your system by primary glands. There are subconscious programming which triggers the release of these hormones. Through meditation, one has to turn their mind in on itself, and find the root of everything that makes them happy - hold onto that feeling, and call it at will.
