    Dear Samy, I am worried that in one of your answers you said: "...there is not much time left." These responses disturb me and knowing the pain of others is my own. I don't know if his case is the same. I also have little time left because among other things I suffer from cancer. I try to dissuade my mind and occupy it even more with what makes me happy. My devotion to God, my family and my hovi. Big hug. Gerardo 🇺🇾

    I understand. The family is the first duty. I have three grown children and a grandson on my youngest daughter's side. And a beautiful wife with whom I share beautiful memories for 35 happy years. You have a great gift. They are lucky. And you have shared it. What more can we ask for? 🥲But.. .every now and then I command a miracle like you have been doing. A big sincere hug from Gerardo 🧑‍🦽🙋🏼‍♂️ from Uruguay 🇺🇾.🤝🤝🤝

    The music set the tone for the video perfectly. It's easy to envisage the hustle & bustle of everyday life with this beautifully depicted diorama. The beggar pleading for food was a nice touch, as was the 2 drunkards singing as they left the public house. Everywhere you look, life is being depicted as ordinary people carry on. There's no big fight, no giant marauding the town - just the acurate, detailed, realistic depiction of medieval life. The only inaccuracy (apart from the vegitables) was the blue dress being worn by a commoner in the village, as blue was a rare colour, as was purple, and reserved only for the wealthiest of clients (Kings, Queens, Nobles, and on a rare occasion, the wife of a Lord of the Manor, if given as a gift from a wealthy in law to show status, but this would be a head cowl, hankerchief or scarf. Aside from this, it's amazingly accurate (as usual) and highly entertaining to watch as it came to life. Thank you .

    Purple was rare. Black was also a difficult colour to produce, so costly. A blue dye was made from woad plants and was not uncommon - not as bright as later blues but still blue. Green was made by dyeing cloth first in yellow and later in woad dye.

    I’m asking this from a historical standpoint: are the missing cobblestones because they were robbed for construction elsewhere or not installed to save the town money perhaps?

  • @pebblesthecat3625

    @pebblesthecat3625

    5 ай бұрын

    It's more likely that the cobblestones were actually cast offs from the buildings as they were constructed, rather than being laid there as a road. At this point in time, carved stone was extreamly difficult to obtain and required many man hours to procure. Also, the stone was also brought by cart from the granite or rock quarry site where it was being extracted from. Usually, a town was built up where a confluence of factors merged - fresh water, flat land, quarry nearby, and forest for wood. The stones would have been used in building foundations or fortifications such as the castle, or a chimney breast in a house, if it could be afforded. Most homes were a stone foundation, timber framed with wattle and daub inserts in between the timbers. Any stones not used in construction were either too odd a shape, or broken, or too small to be used, and these are the cobblestones you see around the buildings. Cobblestones roads were either left overs from Roman roads, built centuries earlier, or were made much later on when towns became more affluent and citizens started to complain about them. The advent of more horse drawn carriages after 1750, and then motor cars in the early 1900's is what pushed the manufacturer of cobblestone roads to its peak. But in medieval times, roads were simply a very well worn trail where vegetation had been trampled to nothing, and dirt walked over constantly had squashed the dirt to become hard. I hope this helps.

    So viele ausschließlich orangefarbene Karotten zu haben, ist nicht sehr mittelalterlich, das kam später. Auf einem mittelalterlichen Markt wären die Karotten orange, aber auch weiß, gelb, lila usw. gewesen. Die orange Karotte ersetzte die anderen Farben erst nach dem Mittelalter.

    Wonderful work. Did you make the figures yourself? If not, who makes them?

    Hey man, i rly love your work, and I wonder if you ever considered increasing the size of your dioramas, not the scale but the size, so for exmple you can make like a big base and build a whole town or castle or something similar which i always wanted to do

    Thanks! Oh yeah, big dioramas are always cool. It also seems much more epic. However, it takes an extremely long time and I don't know whether my motivation can handle it.
