    Die Wehrmacht Doing what they were made to do. "Associates are active in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy. Many of the priests care for German-speaking communities outside of Germany and Austria, especially in Italy and Slovenia; in this sense the Teutonic Order has returned to its 12th-century roots: the spiritual and physical care of Germans in foreign lands." The extremist, violent and dangerous Teutonic Order is no more and has thankfully gone back to it's more peaceful roots. If you do a bit of research on the Teutonic Orders crusading days you'll see they were no better than ISIS.

    ***** No I think torturing (one of the orders favorite things to do was to skin their prisoners) captives innocent or not is a pretty extremist thing to do. Also the order didn't just do terribly things to the Lithuanian, and Old Prussian pagans they also attacked the Christian kingdom of Poland multiple times as well, and let me tell you, no mercy was shown to the Poles either. Also I'm not that educated on pagan traditions but I'm fairly certain that cannibalism and the sacrifice of children was not wide spread (though I know sacrificing adults seemed to have been common).

  • @abulgarianvoice8366

    @abulgarianvoice8366

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Ragnarok1775 Except cannibalism and sacrifice of children wasn't part of Paganism, at least not the European kind. Gods aren't false or right by nature, so that's just your opinion on the subject. A Muslim might say the same about Christianity so as to excuse his extremism and brutality.... that sounds familiar for some reason... The Teutons were one of the most debauched Christian orders. As the OP stated earlier, they were no different than ISIS, and truly, they weren't.

    Those two handed swords were really heavy, so if you you could lift it and attack your enemy it will probably cut almost any armor the enemy wears. And if you master at using two handed swords, you can defend yourself from enemies melee attacks better than just one handed swords (without shield). The cons are, as you expect, it's over weight and lack of flexibility. You can't cut a pillow that made of silk by using two handed, for example. I hope this will help you. And of course, if you see i made a mistake, feel free to correct me 😀

  • @baronprocrastination1722

    @baronprocrastination1722

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@sefe9494 swords aren't that heavy, since most of them almost never go past five pounds, even with zweihanders. Also, there's no bloody way a bladed weapon would cut through even a mail shirt. It's big and relatively heavy, sure, but it's not going to cut through metal. Gambeson, it'd go through like butter if sharpened properly, but no edge can slice apart riveted rings. Although most of the blade's rather stiff, it could also bend and flex because of the springy nature of steel. In the end, (most) swords are treated as sidearms to be used in the absence of a polearm like aspear. However, there _are_ indeed... exceptions.

    +FlipUltraHD Pretty contradicting there... The Nazis fought for their ideals, the Teutons fought under the order of the Pope and to spread Catholicism... To compare them to Nazis is not accurate enough. Sure, the Deutschritter Orden was used in Nazi propaganda, but that is history stained by fascism and did not deserve to be used by them... The Nazis were after Jews, the Teutons were after pagans. I can assume that you radically formulated that statement and did not do your homework... Try not to compare a military order to a regime, purely fallible.

For all who say Hitler acted on behalf of himself, the belt-buckle of any Wehrmacht soldier said: "Gott mit uns." I think that a total war based on WW1 or WW2 would have a more melancholic theme, to show the pathos of the war.

    Is it any coincidence that warlike hordes (Mongols, Turks, Timurids) happened to choose Islam as their religion?

  • @GunnerWarren

    Plenty of "warlike hordes" chose Christianity as well. It was completely region based what religion people became, and was largely a political tool, really. Also, that I know of, the Mongols were never largely Islamic.They are mostly Buddhist today.

    Warren Bryant you cant name any the mongols were islamic but after they lost their empire they became less warlike and after all of those warlike tribes choose christianity like the visigoths ostrogoths franks they became less war like and name warlike tribes that choose christianity

    Levi Ackerman The Roman Empire, the Franks, the Teutons, Spain, the Vatican, all of the several kingdoms fighting over the British Isles, and pretty much every single other group throughout Europe. The middle east for a long time was far embracing of science, peace, and overall education than Europe was. The middle ages was a pretty shitty time for most of the world, The difference between Europe and the middle east in terms of warlike tendencies was that Europe was fighting within for so long that it took much more effort for single large empires to reemerge after Rome collapsed. It was mostly tribal warfare with a few people claiming to be kings that would just end being overthrown by someone else claiming to be king. I'm not sure where you heard the Mongols were Islamic, from what I can find Genghis Khan (who im assuming you are talking about when you say "Mongols") and his successors strictly forbade any Islamic practices. EDIT: Let me be clear though, Im saying the religion itself is irrelevant. People have done fucked up things for Islam as well; pretty much every religion have done fucked up things.
