What a joke. There are so many excuses for breaking confidence that the entire notion of confidence is a joke. If you tell your doctor youre depressed they can decide youre suicidal and force you into a psychiatric evaluation. I've seen it happen.

What does a psychiatric evaluation have to do with confidentiality? Its not like the doctor took to the streets to sing about your depression. They just did something they as medical personnel, thought would help.

Doctors above anything have a duty of care - if you are seen to pose a risk to yourself or others they MUST inform a specialist so that you can be treated, especially when you are not considered to be in your right mind/capable of making decisions. And again, as the video states, they break confidentiality to share information with another healthcare professional, not for personal benefit.
