There is something very important to consider here. Once a "non-believer" (meaning not a JW specifically) such as a medical professional administers the needed blood in an emergency situation, the parent and child are absolved of any "spiritual responsibility" for what occured. Most parents will be grateful their child is ok, yet still feign anger at the staff. Save the child. They will get over it.

The teachings on Jehovah's Witnesses refusal of Blood Transfusions in not their own interpretation of what the scriptures says. Lets see what Second-Peter Chapter One verse twenty and twenty-one says- For you know this first, that no prophecy of scripture springs from any private interpretation. For prophecy was at no time brought by man's will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by holy spirit. Keep these two scriptures in mind. Acts 15:29 - to keep ABSTAINING from things sacrificed to idols, from BLOOD, from sexual immorality . If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you. Matthew 16:25 - For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it .

I am an ex-JW and have personal experience with the blood issue while my mother was in hospital. The Watchtower blood doctrine has changed numerous times over the years and thousands have died due to misinformation. Do you think the Watchtower have apologised to those that have lost their loved ones pre 2000 before blood fractions were allowed? No. Watchtower will not change their policy for accepting whole blood or it’s main components because it will open up a flood of lawsuits. So they are committed. Nothing they say makes sense. One example is that JWs cannot donate or store blood. But it’s ok for a haemophilic to accept factor 8 that requires 9000kg of donated and stored whole blood to make 0.1g of factor 8. I neither agree that the Hospital Liaison Committee should be allowed into hospitals. They are strangers of the family assigned by Watchtower and their duty is ensure that those in a vulnerable position that could change their mid and take blood, not to do so. These people are not doctors. The Watchtower says that JWs can leave it to their conscience on what they can accept. If that’s the case, why are the HLC there? JWs are under undue influence and if they are to accept blood they become disassociated and shunned by their families and entire network. Lots of people are scared of this, they are scared of the Watchtower. They become marked people. It’s a very distressing situation to be in especially when they are at a point of death. This sect is a cult. Please try and make some changes with preventing the HCL visiting patients. They really don’t need that coercion. It’s mental abuse for someone that is already going through the most stressful time of their lives.

All active JW has an advanced directive in their purse/wallet. If unconscious, a transfusion given if not known by the doctor, no legal issue incurred. JW are not instructed not to accept. They are educated and given a choice. Because of the advancement, thanks to JW, bloodless surgery is being used at Penn, John Hopkins and Englewood in USA, Italy, Germany ,Nigeria etc and even taught to military doctors in USA. Education is important. JW respect life and respect clinical teams. Well done for this video. Hospital Liaison Team also educate people. No one is expelled if unconscious and given a transfusion.

All of the verses Jehovah's Witnesses reference for not transfusing blood refer to *eating blood* not transfusing it, which is life saving. For one, eating blood does absolutely nothing for you, as the digestive system is an entirely separate system from the circulatory system. Second of all didn't God say something along the lines of "There is no greater love than this: for a man to lay down his life for his friend"? So if blood represents life, doesn't that mean God would approve? If you are kept alive to bring more Glory to God would He not approve. Those verses refer to not doing things like blood letting, or EATING blood. What they're refering to is eating Kosher, not any medical procedures.

As an EX-witness, it should be considered a crime for parents to push on their children their religious views that can cause death. These children do not understand or agree with the religious stance they’re taking. They are listening to their parents and the elders in the congregation that are pressuring them to “not denounce their integrity” and then reassuring them with an unfounded, unfalsifiable hope of being resurrected from the dead and living an eternal life in complete bliss and perfection. I hope all governmental authorities override a parent’s right to push this No-Blood nonsense on their children. They’re martyrs.

I grew up as Jehovah’s wittnesses and actually a lot of people says That Many Witnesses, including children, die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions. But the fact is This statement is totally unfounded. Surgeons regularly perform such complex procedures as heart operations, orthopedic surgery, and organ transplants without the use of blood transfusions. Patients, including children, who do not receive transfusions usually fare as well as or better than those who do accept transfusions. In any case, no one can say for certain that a patient will die because of refusing blood or will live because of accepting it. Many in my surrounding had the experience about this including my family. And another fact is Medical treatments that avoid blood transfusions are cost-effective. And u may say “Oh so the reason why Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t accept blood transfusion is because they believe that faith will heal a person’s ailments”. Another fact is -We do not practice faith healing-.

JWs are not expelled from the religion if voluntarily accept a blood transfusion. To take a blood transfusion is a personal decision and a matter between that individual and Jehovah God. Neither is the individual shunned for that reason.

That is absolute nonsense and you know it. If you willingly accept something forbidden by the religion such as packed red blood cells (RBCs), and do so in good conscience, you are declared as no longer one of JWs, which is exactly the same thing. It puts you in the same harsh communal shunning program.

@@Dismythed one small correction. You will be quietly informed of your disfellowshiping is not accurate. A judicial committee will ensure with at least three men, and they alone will determine"guilt". If you took the blood and remain in good conscience about it.....meaning you are not "sorry" or deemed "repentant" for what JWs classify as a sin, then you are disfellowshipped and informed of it then. There is then an announcement to the congregation that you are no longer one of JWs (nothing quiet about that), and that kicks in their communal shunning program which will last in perpetuity unless you "come to your senses".
