you’re so right. for example, us as fans tend to sexualise things that aren’t even sexual from the start. it’s like pole-dancing, for example, a beautiful and extremely hard dance and form of art, which has now been sexualised and used to objectify women. i feel like, if an idol isn’t obviously uncomfortable in an outfit, there’s nothing sexual or wrong about it until fans decide to sexualise it!

Exactly. Me too, at first, I was influenced by negativity surrounding it. When I decided to try it, I fell in love with. I'm a dancer and man pole-dancing is so damn hard. I have so much respect for those ladies. I thought I was in shape and I had wakeup call. Absolutely not. it is beautiful art form and keep you in shape. I love it. I really miss it though.

Yep pole dancing has such a stigma around it. Two cases that come to mind are two people who competed in talent shows in Europe (different countries but both still quite conservative). A young man and a young girl, these athletes were incredible, absolutely phenomenal, the amount of strength they had to have in order to do what they did was just unbelievable. There was nothing sexual about their numbers either, however, there were still people that commented that these type of things are simply inappropriate in its existence. Still I think they were the first time I saw people really appreciate the artistry behind it.

"which has now been..." you do know strippers came up with pole dancing right? Don't discredit them. However I do agree that it is a form of art that I admire and with your final point. Take Yuna from itzy for example, people whine that jype sexualizes her by giving her crop tops, like excuse me? She's a 18y.o fresh girl, have they seen girls her age? Not everyone like hoodies and baggy clothes jeez

As a dancer, I thought people admired idols for their talent and their looks just like I did, but after a while, I realized there was more than that. Seeing people treat idols like they're sexual objects and companies encouraging this was just not it. It's a very serious problem yet people are turning a blind eye and treating it as a joke. It's not okay, it never will be.

definitely, especially since the majority of nowadays kpop fans MOST PROBABLY came for visuals and handsome & pretty human beings. acting like they were taken entranced by their "charisma" or their "talents" when in reality, the exact reason why people stan or like these people are bc of how they look. and whats embarassing is that these people dont hide that at all. the kpop community is so very toxic its just hard.

This really reminded of some armys i saw in my baby army days when I was digging up their old performances and stuff and how many were going on and on in the comment section "I miss Jimin's playboy/seductive/sexy side" and how he has now gotten "soft" .. it made me wonder if his personality rn (deemed as soft by others) is his real personality and that playboy aura was something he tried to embody for fanservice? There was also the time when jimin actually talked about his shoulder flip in blood sweat and tears and how "fans only like him when he reveals some skin" ... This makes me wonder if this sexual exploitation of idols puts pressure on them that they need to act provocative since it is a part of their job and if they don't, no one will notice them?

Not an army, but in ao3, BTS is one of the fandoms with the most smut fanfiction. I was honestly uncomfortable with that fact because it seems like these fans only see them as something to satisfy their desires. And when someone calls them out, the respond with "________ is an adult so its ok" which is sick. Hell, in fanfiction, they make IU the ex girlfriend (mostly in jungkook y/n fanfics). In the comments they insult her, call her a slut, say that her popularity is because of BTS, and even threaten to harm her and her family! Do you really think you have a chance with him or the other members? IU was already popular domestically even when BTS wasn't even formed. Honestly just stop treating both male and female idols like their not even human.

The shaking frames add an air of unease, while the tense music in the background builds on this. Triangles and triangle motifs are commonly seen as dangerous, and the use of sharp points in the graphic design of this video is such a smart choice. I love seeing creators who care about and emulate real moviemaking techniques in their videos.

I feel so uncomfortable watching Joy whenever she’s either performing or at award shows because her dresses barely cover the top of her legs. And it’s not “Her clothes are too revealing so I’m uncomfortable”. Wear whatever you want. Your life, your body. I don’t care. It’s that you can see her fidgeting and readjusting her clothes every few seconds that you can tell that SHE isn’t comfortable in her own clothes. She looks stunning, but it’s obvious that she’d prefer something longer or to wear some form of pants/shorts/leggings/etc under her dresses. It’s so upsetting to see her looking so miserable 😭💚

I can accept it if the Idols themselves agree on doing these "sexual" concepts but it really is concerning and uncomfortable to see some companies sexualize such young teenage boys and girls! In my opinion its wrong because they are young and vulnerable to the Public's eye so if wearing and doing certain things like that it may make them feel uncomfortable but they might be to scared and timid to speak up . Take Niki from Enhypen for example , I saw people calling him daddy and saying the most disgusting things ever!! Like omfg people! Calm down he's a child!! The boy is only 15 years not 20!!!! I really hope companies stop this and just let them follow their own theme or once they are at the proper age then they can introduce such concepts to them . Then again this is just my opinion guys .

Hello, I'm an Indian subscriber and I would like to point out that the only times us girls are allowed to show our stomachs is when we wear traditional clothes such as sarees or lehengas, the moment we wear crop tops which are abit higher(that also includes wearing deep cut tops, showing too much leg, etc) we get weird stares from males and females alike but they are mostly of the older generations. Things are changing in the big cities, but the situation is still the same in the towns and the rural areas. I could recall times when my grandmothers(both side of my parents) were alive, used to tell me about the times when they used to just wrap their sarees in such a way so they didn't wear blouses underneath their sarees, but after the British Raj deemed it inappropriate and had sexually abused them, the women then started to cover their breasts with blouses and then wrapping their sarees over it .

I love stellar music. The first time I saw them I loved them immediately. At the time I thought these girls were pushing boundaries and I love that. But now knowing the truth and finding out how one of the members has been left traumatized, it hurts so much. I feel awful for loving their music. I swear to God that tzuyu elevator dance has haunted me for all the wrong reasons. I'm not that much older then her and I still don't like to show off my body yet. I can only imagine how she must have felt. Giiiirl when I tell you about fanfiction..... I stayed far far far from them. I read one chapter of a jungkook fan fiction and it destroyed my soul. I stayed far far far away from these stories. I was on the moon that's how far I was from them. Loved you video. You give such motivation about a woman's body and also teaching me a lot. Can I just add that American fans wait until a male idol is 18 to publicly sexualized them even though the age of consent is 21/20 in SK. This fact has been bothering me a lot, because female fans talk about female idols getting sexualized but are okay with it when it's males(both are wrong!). Also I'm not sure how to put it but it seems (from my observations) that American fans try to Amercanize Kpop like with laws and whatnot. Also wtf is up with fangirls being misandrists? They're always saying "I hate men,all men should die" and even say "X idol hates men, we Stan"? Like if a dude said this towards women everyone would "cancel" him.

One time I read a Camila x Lauren fanfic because I was really far from these two ( i wasn't a fan ) but damn my view on Camila Cabello was living through the story after that. So yeah fnfictions are fun and honestly I don't mind them going for darker or sexual things, but personally it needs to be non existing people, or people reeeeeally far from me physically and emotionally. Therefore I'm a big big Twice lover, and NEVER will I read a fanfiction about them, because I will lose the reality of my relationship with this group, which is a fun group that I enjoy seeing interact and perform together. I don't want to watch them through a twisted fantasy of mine

I'm in a fandom from a western boyband, all of the members are between 33-34 years old and like 95% of their fans are over 20, yet they still s3xualized them to the point where they start guessing who's genitals are bigger, who is "better in bed" and they can't see a normal picture of them in a tank top or shirtless without saying they want to sleep with them.

Ok, this is an old video but I'm gonna comment anyway bc I'm a new subscriber and I was literally talking about this with someone on Discord because of the whole Chan *babygirl* debacle and the fact that he actively asks fans to send him pick-up lines and seems open to light flirting with fans. He mentioned reading some things, and people are acting in 1 of 2 ways: he's a pure innocent baby who needs to be protected from the evil horny fans, or he's just a provocative guy who gets off on this stuff. And honestly, it's probably neither. Fans need to remember these people are well, people and they obviously have their own wants and desires and it makes sense they'd enjoy this kind of attention to a certain extent and well, I'm sure Chan knows how to use the internet and you don't exactly just randomly stumble upon smut of yourself so he probably got curious and looked it up, plus him encouraging fans to send pick-up lines and reading them out loud isn't consenting to creepy shit, he said so himself that he just thinks it's a fun little exercise. There needs to be a balance in acknowledging these idols are human and have human urges and thoughts, but knowing how to keep it in check. An idol inviting you to participate in flirting doesn't mean you can be overtly sexual or rude. It's about respecting boundaries and if you're unsure where the boundary is, don't charge with your biggest tank right off the bat or don't charge at all. Specifically, in Chan's case, he really seems like the type of person who's just very open and honest and doesn't always think too much before he speaks, and fans use that to make themselves feel better about how unhinged they get. By all means, be a little flirty since he seems to roll with it, but there's a hard limit that you should be aware of before engaging. (General "you", not aimed at anyone. Also, I'm only talking about grown-up idols in this comment)

12:30 about your point on indians ... it's kind of ironic lmao. idk if all of it is true because it really only applies to point one. there are many ways to go about it because the indian film industry (literally every language, i'm not even kidding - be it hindi, tamil, bengali, kannada or telugua) is a breeding ground for sexualization. tw // harassment and sexualization 1. the sari, which shows off more skin than a crop top is considered okay. but women are shamed for dressing more in tune with the western culture and seen as "asking for it". there's also a lot of misogyny. in one of my tutions, the teacher made it clear that girls couldn't wear shorts or sleeveless tops. but the boys could routinely come in wearing thin jersey shorts and nobody would bat an eyelid. it's become that normalized. 2. on the other end, women wearing saris are sexualized too. by men themselves as well as media - which sometimes zooms in to focus on the female's hips while she walks in a sari. no words. 3. and if a girl, a minor, isn't dressed in either, and is in a literal school uniform, she's also sexualized. i have a personal incident of boys making obscene gestures at me when i was coming back from school, simply because my uniform was a pinafore and it unfortunately was a bit too tight on the chest for me. oh and did i mention i was once on my way to classes, wearing the most innocent thing ever - a top and a pair of leggings. a man stopped to ask me for directions. i looked around the road trying to recall and when he told me to look, i was ... flashed at. why? "because i fucking love your balls man." i was 14.

TV programs/award shows: Those moves/songs are too sexual! Banned! Producers: Get the groups on the stage with the most exposing clothing, but make them change the choreography. That way the general public will never know what we want, and they'll think we're being woke as fuck.

Okay, about the FANFICTIONS/FANFICTIONAL - Is the thing you can't avoid at least it's their habits to makes stories...even if you try to stop them from being writing like a smuts ff or sexualizing their idols...YOU and WE can't stop them for what they're doing...since the fanfics were also like shipping - shipping romanticly can end up ruining friendships, look at Harry and Louis, after 2013 they couldn't even interact with each other as mare friends, now look at Tae and Kook, they admitted they also grew up apart even when we thought they were close friends. you may make them not even want to look at each other, like Lizkook, those avoid each other in public as if they were getting extra for that. Some of the other fandoms also wanna try to stop people or also their fandom from being shipping2 to their idols...(You are not doing a favor to your fave celebrities by shipping them romantically together when they are bandmates, you are making them uncomfortable.) But they didn't stop shipping the idols instead they always make uncomfortable the idols because of the shipping and the fanfiction... it's just like fanfics is you were just shipping yourself with your idols at least not others idols... Just my opinion>• That's why it called fanfiction because it's imagination...if they thought that they sexualizing the idols on ff... it's NOT real though...they put warnings on it. Just imagine! Don't take it seriously!!!!

@@kookies3966 do K-drama characters fall in love with their r@p*sts? Do they glorify sexual assault and domestic violence... yeah no, fanfics are NOT like K-drama... And if they are K-dramas doing this then they need to be blocked period... I don't have a problem with smut ff, but the ones that glorify r@pe and stuff are just NOT okay...

The whole Harry and Louis thing was horrible because it only had two possible outcomes: 1- it was true and these fans were obsessively and forcefully trying to out people who didn’t want to be making their sexuality public all for their fetishes to come true. 2- it wasn’t true and they ruined their friendship or at least the ability to actually interact with being wary of the cameras Also I just wanted to point out something that pissed me off so much back when I was a fan of one direction and these things were happening live. The whole base of the ship is cemented in gay stereotypes. Like absolutely everything. I pointed this out when the shit hit the fan and Louis had a kid whose mother was getting death threats because apparently she was THE DEVIL, you know what I got called? Homophobic. The proof was literally homophobic gay stereotypes used against lgtbt people ( especially men) for decades. I also see the exact same patterns in bts with taekook and Jimin. But it’s not as bad because there are also a big chunk of people who are more understanding to other cultural male relationships rather than the traditional western style.

Your video is so true and so we'll made. Have you realized that the " sexy idol" most of the time are the darkest member? Jennie and Lisa from blackpink are both the "darkest" member of their group and are the sexy member. Kai from exo V and Jungkook from BTS Hwa sa from mamamoo Hyunjin from skz etc... And half of the idols that I mentioned are the youngest member.
