Please do not take this the wrong way, but they used the median average number (hence making reference to the 'middle number' - in other words, this is not a correct measurement of hourly rates and has been used to foster disharmony in the workplace by woke media...ever since Hillary Clinton lost the election. There are 3 averages: Mean Median Mode or Modal Using the median number is an easy way to make it look like women are being paid less than men, all you have to do is hire a female to to a minimum wage job, and all of a sudden, it appears on paper that women are being paid less, purely because the MIDDLE NUMBER gets pulled down. So please - whoever wrote this article, does not understand one of most basic elements of how to calculate averages. For more information on averages, ask a 10 year old learning statistics at school....

The simple fact that they knew the majority of their audience was male, yet they deliberately attacked them and told them they were no longer wanted, should be some sort of corporate maleficence to the share holders.

That's what I never understood. Experience/competence matters. Availability matters. Seniority/length of time with the company matters. And being willing to negotiate for raises/a higher starting pay matters. But no, they want to pretend like everyone is worth the same amount. If some inexperienced, lazy newbie that always called off came in making the same as me, I'd be LIVID. And you know darn well they would be, too.

However, I can finish about 60-70 assets per week while this new girl only does 15 assets per week. As someone who works in the film and television industry. There are majority men who do the labor positions on the crew. Women hold clerical positions in the office accounting that typically don’t pay as much if you had female directors of photography, female camera operators, female gaffers, female grips, they would be earning the same pay as their male counterparts. There’s union mandates on pay scale; because the majority of men hold those positions, Of course they’re going to be paid more than female lead positions in the production office.

Having run millions of dollars in contracting, I can certainly say that it’s easy to define specific jobs, assign job requirements and education needs, and develop a pay scale. Did I miss something? Other than the fact that you are a “mean girl” type.

Agree. And not just a breakdown of male and female. Job description with job experience, educational background, and any seminars or workshops attended that will increase your value. Then a list of the pay scale along with a mapping of one to one on the staffing plan. With all the nepotism in Hollywood it would be interesting to see who’s in what pay scale. I’d love to see her staffing plan!

Never use average. What is the exact pay for each employee and what are their jobs, the hours worked and what do they bring to the project. Because I guarantee you if they did so, their dumb narrative would fizzle out quite quickly.

For a single woman 18-having her first long term bf, I account for her calling out at least 2 days of work a month. Once a husband and their first baby, I now account for 2 additional days and for every child thereafter and another additional 2 days. Does she have any noticeable mental health issues, another 2 days. We have to account for that because a man will have to pick up that slack because women don't support other women so we cannot hope for women to pick up that slack. Women simply do not work nearly as much as m3n and more often find reasons to not work their scheduleddays.

When I hired women to do dog training, they would STILL call out of clients despite only having no less than 16 hours of work a week. Women simply do not want to work. They want equity. They wanna be paid for not doing work and that's not how businesses are supposed to be ran. So now I just don't hire women. I don't tell them why, just tell them I'm not hiring atm. Also, women will try and sue you as a business owner for even acknowledging the fundamental truth of their own undisciplined lazy nature. It's annoying and best to just ignore them and hire peoppe that will show up for work and gen z women are even WORSE! Had a woman a couple years ago, gen z, tell me an hour before a shift that she won't be coming in for a "mental health day" I told her she needs a diagnosis from a clinician for that and she tried to sue me. Making up mental health issues for taking time off, like F that, youre fired and I'll see you at court lady. Judge told her the exact same thing and then she tried to sue again for mental anguish, like Jesus fhrist ladies, quit giving businesses reason to NOT hire you smh

@@niklbauglir I've seen more men jump to taking women's days off because they've now prioritized making money over dating, especially among gen z men. They have lost sight of value of dating, for good reasons, but still want a sense of purpose. Through their apathy for how women and society have treated them, they jump at the opportunity to make more money to support their hobbies. I mentor young men and teen bois and out of 27 young ones 100% have zero desire for gfa or marriage. Seeing young men, especially teens and in their 20s, forgo their biological imperative for peace and quiet is the most telling stuff I've ever seen man. Women have sort of failed on every front now. It's wild to me. Especially as a sociology major. The social engineering to hate men and brainwash women has worked a scary way now. It's only getting worse because now the young men are like you mentioned, becoming also less reliable and more angry and worst off, apathetic to it all.

hmmm.... while it would be fantastic irony if disney were underpaying the women... this figure that was mentioned has the same flaw as the main womanist gripe about equal pay... and that is the fact it takes ALL men and averages their salaries and then takes ALL women and averages their salaries and then makes a comparison. Problem with that is it doesn't tell you if women are paid less, in fact the only conclusion that you could come to with those numbers is that there are more men in higher paying jobs than women. I think someone is just trying to keep reviving the long dead (and still beating a dead horse) idea that there is no equal pay!

Hey Thor. Totally agree with everything you summarized. Both sides are benefiting from the acolyte controversy. That seems to be the way with everything these days. Be careful. If the "average pay" was calculated without taking into account the actual job type, it is likely in error. Hiring women for lower payong jobs, for example, would guarantee that an overall average would show a discrepancy, and be discriminatory to the WOMEN even BEFORE pay was an issue! 😂😂 I'd check how those figures were calculated before making another "accusation." 🙂

I gotta say though, how many of those women have the SAME amount of experience as the men working on the show? I'd bet not many.

How much an actor is paid = how many tickets will he/she bring to the table. Its not rocket science. Every movie producer or publisher knows what kind of actor they need to target specific audiences and that CAN be done without butchering the character.

As much as I hate disney, but this is a completly different topic. It depends on your job title or description or whatever. Would it be equal pay if an accountant sitting at the desk all day with air condition on, made the same money as an electrician, who needs expert knowledge, works in extreme heat and cold, works on heights, works while current is still operating (aka life in danger)?

From what you showed from the article, it only shows the continued false narrative of women being paid less. The data was averaged over the entire working population for the production. It seems the author was lazy and did not compare salaries across the same jobs. I would not crow too much about the article.

RUH ROH but then in 2015 Disney laid off about 250 of the technical workers who create the magic behind Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., were laid off to make way for foreign workers hired on H-1B visas AND they had to train these replacements to do their jobs or otherwise they would not get any severance.
