    Nice presentation in that piece, especially the extra goody pry and cord. That bite is actually a kiss from your new knife showing you it's home. :) New knives equal bites and sore hands. Really love their blade shapes, really identifies the maker. Thanks for the upload.

    Just picked one up from DLT in D2. S90V was sold out. Nice to see another knife guys opinion with same size hands as me. Most small hand knife guys would knock the size of this knife. I think and thought it would fit my hands perfectly.

    MikeysBladeworks It’s definitely not dull brother, I appreciate your opinion I really do but I carefully maintain my tools. The 187dp is just a great cutter despite its size, I’ve actually carried and used this thing every day since I got it which was a few days prior to this video going live because it was pre recorded. With use some new issues have definitely popped up but it has blown me away with its utility.

    Kyle J. Lanphere physics will tell you that a thinner blade will have less resistance than a thicker one. It’s just facts period man. I’m not one of those “Medford prybar” guys either. I’ve had many Medford and like them. Hell I’ve got a .260 marauder in the mail on its way to me lol. I don’t doubt it’ll cut but there no way it’s a better slicer than a thinner same edge profile blade.

    I love the 187DP, I wasn’t a fan of the flipper variant but the Marauder is by far my favorite model, though it’s my favorite in the .26 variant.

    I bought the 187 flipper as a joke because I thought it looked so ridiculous. After handling it I was very surprised at the smoothness and lightness of it despite the look. It fits into a large watch pocket perfectly as well along with a small O-light. It has become my most carried flipper this year and I love it. Overall I am very impressed with my first Medford and will definatly purchase another.

    Nice review. We each have to decide what fits OUR needs, not what someone else feels fits our needs, especially from those who have never even handled one. Owned a 187DP Vulcan blade/G10 a few years ago. Pretty stiff and too large for my EDC in a mostly office setting. I now have a 187DP, PVD blade, Ti scales, D2 as my heavy duty work/yard/construction knife. I am a big guy with big hands and it fits me, and fits where I will be using it.

    Great reviews on the Medfords brotha. One of my 2020 goals is to buy either an Infraction or a TFF, loving seeing reviews on these guys usually you only see Medfords on the Medford channel, and BirdShot IV likes them too.

    Yeah but birdshot rarely features them because they tend to have a lower view rate because of the price tag. Check out my buddy Dirk Werning if you are into Medford’s, he does excellent reviews and he has 40+ currently. Tell him I sent you 😂 m.kzread.info/dron/Dp9SNQeF818F1ZBLRsvWkg.html

    I recently purchased a 187 on the forums, and I'm having a tough time breaking it in. All my other Medford's I bought used so they were really smooth from the get go. It's been about 4 weeks and it still squeaking like a rusty gate...everyone says just keeping using it and it will break in, but its seems like a long time to me...

    The noise is the detent ball. A cutip with a small dab of oil on the detent ball or track will smooth it out.

    I had one of these and it wasn't my cup of tea as far as EDC goes. It was beefy and flipped really nice once i broke it in I just never seemed to carry it. Too large for fine tasks. Well built but it didn't stay in my collection for more than a year.

    Deciding whether to buy my first Medford. Based on their prices and what appeals to me, I think I've narrowed it down to the 187dp. S90v over 3V? Why? Coated vs. Non-coated? Why? Just found your channel and subbed. Appreciate it.

  • @RedwolfEDC

    @RedwolfEDC

    So my favorite Medford by far is the full size .26 marauder and those can be had on the secondary market for around 700-900. As far as the 187DP goes it’s a really good knife but I do just prefer the marauder. So for me a coated blade is essentially a requirement for a work knife in order to avoid corrosion. However it’s a requirement because I work my ass off and as such my pockets get really sweaty and pockets of rust form on the blade. I EDCI everything I use and it still happens but for the vast majority of users it simply doesn’t matter so I would just buy whatever S90V you like. Thank you for your comment and for subbing to my channel, if I can help you with anything else feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @Kyle_J_Lanphere or on Facebook @ Kyle J. Lanphere. Take care

    Dude theres no way that a pm2 has more drag than a medford cutting receipt paper!!! Lol the Medford is just sharper right now! Nero knives has a video on Medford cutting tires and pm2 cutting tires. He show that an axe can cleanly cut paper if its sharpened right. The geometry of a hollow grind helps if the material is stiff and doesn't easily split after cutting. If the paper was thick cardboard that would prove something but not the point u just made!

  • @RedwolfEDC

    @RedwolfEDC

    4 жыл бұрын

    I compared the two because it’s a fair comparison, my PM 2 is incredibly sharp and cuts through pretty much everything without issue, so does the DP. To be clear I wouldn’t make that claim about my marauder or praetorian, those are both good slicers but not to the same lvl as the 187dp. Vice versa though I have plenty of knives that cut far better then a PM2, the pm2 isn’t the be all end all that people claim it is, it’s above average certainly but far from perfect.

  • @dombond6515

    @dombond6515

    @@RedwolfEDC well u know that a sharper axe will cut receipt paper than that Medford right??? Cutting thin material that will split easily doesn't prove that 1 is more slicey. It only proves 1 is more sharp. That's my point ! If u wanna show which is more slicey u got to use thicker and more rigid material. Believe me I know exactly where the pm2 stands in terms of cutting performance. Cutting performance is mostly show in thickness behind the edge. Blade stock and grind is after that factor. But a blazing sharp axe will cut receipt paper better than a semi dull straight razor! Is was a bad example. It's like someone saying Medford are so thick they cant cut paper. No hate just wanna let u know. If u cut paper then thin cardboard then thick cardboard then plastic that will show cutting performance, ie sliceyness

  • @dombond6515
    @dombond65154 жыл бұрын

    U should do a video cutting paper then thin cardboard then thick cardboard then thick plastic. The Medford won't make it thru. I'll send u the plastic tubing if u want????? And to show sharpness cut cross grain paper heal to tip slow. That's a good way I've found to see if parts of knife are dull

  • @RedwolfEDC

    dom bond Brother I love knives and I love any excuse to use them so if you want to send me tubbing to cut then feel free. I just cut a soda bottle in half with no issue and a few different thicknesses of cardboard with out issue, I don’t have any crazy thick cardboard on hand though so I have no idea how it would hold up to that.
