Medaka Egg Development

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Watch my medaka grow and hatch! Medaka (Oryzias latipes) are a species of ricefish from Japan. They come in a variety of colors and thanks to the clear eggs, you can easily watch them grow from day 1.

This is sooooo wonderfully awesome to watch!!! I have a group of 5 juvi orange medaka rice fish and the female has been popping out 1-5 eggs a day and I just put a small spawning mop hanging in the tank and I’ve picked eggs. The first few times they fungus up so I started using meth blue to help with that. Now I have a group of like 8-10 in meth over the past few small batches. Anyways the 3 that have been in there the longest I used a magnifying glass and could see they were eyed up. How long does it usually take for the eggs to first hatch from beginning to end and how much longer from eyeing up to hatch?!?! Thanks for any help?!?!

Have you ever seen fish eat eggs from the female while carrying? When my fish arrived one of the females was caring eggs and I have no idea where they went

I haven't seen them eating eggs, though I've heard it happens. If you can't find eggs, I suggest you try putting your fish in a smaller tank with lots of moss for a week or two and then putting them back. Chances are, one or two weeks later you'll find dozens of fry in that small tank!

Sorry for getting back to you so late. I don't know where you're located but judging from your profile pic, shipping from Austria will cost more than whatever price you've been quoted for live fish.. sorry
