I guess netflix certification is expensive. But av1 integrated and handling 4k60 well is good to see, great for projectors would be my use or a super cheap 4k tv with super lagging UI. But if we add the cost of this box to the tv budget might get a better end result. Anyway great review

Totally agree! At the same time - recently I got a very cheap TCL which comes with Google TV and has about the same performance. Weirdly, lately non-smart TVs are sometimes even more expensive than smart TVs...

Will this box play 4k HDR video from a hard drive attached by usb?

Yeah. Note that those boxes running on Android TV/google TV require different file system

I was hoping the hdmi 2.1 support meant 4k120hz support for game streaming? I guess android tv is locked to 60hz

I think they won't update it to Android 12 because they would have to use 64 bits architeture for apps and games.

I have the shield and Nvidia has all but forgotten it exists and no more updates as well and no news on possible further updates, so you're screwed no matter

I have mecool km2 deluxe about 5 days. Having major issues in kodi with rd sources playback. Average 10gb files..if I f-fwd a show even just a few mins the km2 won't correct itself everytime...only sometimes. Audio/video out of sync.ive noticed even if it does correct..there's about 4 second lag before correction. My internet speeds are great..500 mbps+. Can you do some streaming in kodi playback testing ans see how you fare...let us know. The box auto updated when I plugged it in. Other apps like stremio..netflix..cinema hd...no issues..working fine. Looking fwd to your response

Best thing to do is to check with Mecool's support. Try some older KODI versions

Kodi sucks I've found. Google "best Kodi alternatives 2024." You'll find some great apps👍

AV1 id Huge i have the Nvidia shields in every room that has a tv and iv tedted AV1 tv shows (Rick&Morty) even at 128mb per episode the shield Stutters every single frame. This sounds like itll be the device to succeed the Shield Finally since AMD doesnt want to enter this market tjis device will replace every Sheild i have just because it can actually play AV1. The Gig Lan and WiFi destroys the Fire Cube that ships with a 100mb lan port for whatwver reason 🤦‍♂️

I still believe that Gbit is still more like a gimmich, since the flash performance is not greater than 10-15MB/s in most cases

There is a USB 3 and USB 2 available on this model It just doesn't have the colour like most USB 3 ports have IT is listed in there specs

!Attention! 😵😵😵Mecool new boxes do not have resetting button so in case of any error you going to have to buy another android box. I bough the previous version Mecool km2 plus but I did n't pay attention if this box have reset buttom or not and now I am stuck with it because I can't reset it. from now on if an android box do not have a reset buttom I wont buy it.

@@TechMishka My box is stuck on the android logo and nothing can I do to fix it due to the lack of the reset button. If you have any problem with your box , you can't fix it because you can't recover it, Hope you understand now .

Do you really think he saw the logo and has just been waiting days/weeks for it to fix itself without turning it off and on again/unplugging it etc? I hate to be rude, but this is some serious 40iq stuff, seriously. Like, I have no idea how people are even able to think this way, in what way does your brain allow you to not think to this degree? It baffles me to high-heavens.

And yet another total failure from mecool. The fact that there is no USB 3.0 port on a deluxe version is still acceptable, but the fact that they advertise that all formats are perfectly supported and run properly and then draw comparisons to Nvidia Shield TV (although I would like to point out at this point that nVidia does not offer any kind of service after the warranty has expired) is absolutely unacceptable in view of the fact that the formats are not functional. After some tests, which every user here is welcome to carry out themselves if they are in possession of the box, it does play Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision is also possible, but only in conjunction with Netflix, which means that Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision simply only work with Netflix and other streaming providers and not with KZread or videos from the hard disk. However, this is different with other providers that work accordingly, so be careful when shopping otherwise you will unfortunately be annoyed!

I can totally get your frustration. Thing is that Mecool.are the only small brand that still produces certified boxes. And I prefer to keep on seeing them active here. What you state is of course frustrating, but given their resources, could be that it is not too bad after all.

KZread doesn’t support Dolby Vision. The content you see on their with Dolby Vision in thumbnail or title were uploaded as Dolby Vision but KZread only uses HDR 10 and 10+. The Mekool deluxe will for sure play Dolby Vision video files.

@@NickWindham yes with youtube you was right play hdr. But not with mecool. And the other proof please show the community an video file who mecool plays video files in dolby vision. Only streaming works well. No dolby atmos etc. works with video files on mecool thats an fact. dolby vison and atmos was only supported by netflix, dsiney+ maybe other streamers but never ever yt or video files.

It has USB 3 it just doesn't have the colour like most devices have It is USB 2 and next to this is USB 3 IT is listed in the official spec's
