Anyone realize the four different references to the movie "Alien" in the opening scene of the Tank Rush mission? Dude says Captain Dallas is gonna be angry at them for being late. Dallas was the captain of the _Nostromo_ in Alien. The other guy tries with "Jonesy, I don't care if he yells as long as get our full bonus." Jones was the name of the cat on the _Nostromo_ and the two engineers Brett and Parker were obsessed the whole movie with getting paid their bonus. And finally the line "Quit griping/I like griping" is verbatim was Dallas says to Lambert and how she replies.

My theory, is that Aleira unanchored Foster and ditched the ship at the last second to get the 5th core for herself, for whatever reason. That is *if* she survived, which I believe she did; The last cutscene shows it.

MSFT has the licensed leased out to PGI, so not gonna happen. That and the studio that made this game series got bought out by Wargaming back in 2013. Plus nothing about mechassault is canonical in the BT universe.

@@OMGtheykilledKenny42 Piranha Games Inc. They are the guys who own Mechwarrior Online / Mechwarrior 5. MSFT also been more picky about upholding canon since Catalyst has been rebuilding the tabletop end of it.

Damn i remember Planet Northwind turret battle being so hard… then I learned how to use those guided missiles n took out the bunkers at the enemy base.

My favorite game. I'm still waiting on a third.

Microsoft canceled MA 3 because it didn't turn out to be the series that they thought it was going to be, cuz MA 2 didn't sell as well as they'd hoped, both games were fire as fuck tho

@@The_Sapphire_Fox It would probably sell significantly better these days if it's even remotely as well made as MA2 was at the time of its release. There is very few original games these days, 2005 was a hectic year, those were the days where there was so many games being released plus the 360 launched. Keep in mind the OGX didn't sell terribly well, it would be a game changer these days.

I prefer MA1 instead of MA2, but I wish they’d make an MA3. My main complaint about MechAssault 2 was how they changed the healthbar/armor bar and heat buildup bar for MechAssault 2. They should’ve kept the corresponding versions from the first game. That, and the Alpha Strike stuff was confusing as f@&$

What's weird to me is the word of Blake motivation its never explained also I have a theory that the spider mech was the other half of the skull mech at the end of the game it explains why the skull mech is crawling in its boss fight

Also, that giant supermech with the skull face was unfinished. I didn't see anything on the big spider for the waist to fasten to. Also, that Spider Mech was old, not recently built.

Fun fact: the mechassault armor was made canon as the Dragoon Battle Armor in the recognition guide series

i had this game ounce but couldnt play due to system breaking n not able to afford another so couldnt play much past the first few missions!!!!

There's a few people working on it right now, one of them is Stomper in mechassault reborn but it's slow progress because of how dookie it is to actually get Xbox games working for emulation.

This game made me hate that I got into BattleTech lore. This particular game was heavily focused on multiplayer and the story was rushed and ultimately unfinished on a cliffhanger. bleh!

Man I never played much on console during this era and always wondered what the story was for Mech Assault. Watching this the goofy deviations from normal setting lore really makes me hurt - so it is probably good that I never did play this. I mean I love stomping on Wobbies, and everyone knows jihad era is a bit ...... odd...... but this really hurts me to watch.

@@tristanbackup2536 It *appears* to be set early Jihad - so very late 3060s. But the story, the tech mcguffins, how they handle system jumping, even the characters just don't really fit the main universe very well.

Die beide Games waren zwar nie so richtig "battletech"-ish aber erst jetzt, jahre später, merkt man wie wenig sich eigentlich im Game development getan hat. Eher im Gegenteil. Die Animationen von mechs im MechAssault2 sind so flüssig, geradezu organisch, genau wie es sein soll, schließlich sind Mechs KEINE PANZER AUF BEINEN! Besonders deutlich wird es wenn man es mit den Animationen aus MWO oder MW5 vergleicht, da merkt man sofort das die Grafik nur im punkto Polygone und der Auflösung der Texturen besser ist, die Animationen sind aber ein Witz geworden. Leider...
