Excellent class thanks. Here in UNAMA we were forced to have this subject in DOL so you are the only teacher I will ever had in this subject. Greetings from Brazil.

Q2 is a bit tricky :-) Let me give a clue. Take a point which is an intersection of perpendicular lines from each of the roller supports. If one rotates the body about that point, will it be possible to rotate the body by a small angle? If so, can you call it rigidly connected to the fixed frame? - Sivakumar

as long as they are roller supports aren't parallel the system cant move, is the answer zero correct sir?

    I had these results: #1 - 1 (along horizontal) #2 - 2 (along the support for a very small distance for both the rollers, which are interconnected, the body is not fixed) #3 - 0 #4 - 1 (along the incline) #5 - 5 (3 for B + 1 for the Bent Pin forming the hinge+ 1 for A)

bro i think what you said for 4 is wrong because a incline is a combination of x,y so it must be two degree of freedom

#2 - is 0 - as body can't translate and not even rotate as pins(attached to roller) dont allow such + body itself is rigid

@maan1437 in question 4 we have 3 roller supports and the three roller supports arrest any kind of translation in the system. the only way the system can move is along the incline, in an angular motion. so the number of degrees of freedom is one

In college I have been taught that if two bodies are attached by a rod then the number of constraints is one. So why at 11:46, the number of constraints is 2 when they are attached by a pin?

11.00 Small doubt here. Can we assume the point O to rotate as well? If it can rotate, then the whole system will have 5 degrees of freedom, rather than 4?

@Da1NOnlyTrueDaniel If pinned to the frame of reference it will have 3 dofs. If not, 5 dofs. Most problems solved in this exercise are those in which the body is NOT pinned to the frame of reference. Hope it is clear now?

All correct except example 6, it will be 0 if its fixed with a pin connection. It can go in vertical direction if its a sliding connection(neglecting gravity). Great teacher !!!
