When I was working in Saudi I noticed that when it (seldom) rained in hills, there are clouds and thunder and bolts of lightning ringing hilltops, like illustrations in old-fashion Christian bibles. It's dry as bone, then there raging streams coming from the hills and cooler for a short time. Dramatic in the extreme.
