    At the end as I summed up my points I was like "Oh, I'm fine, I only have like 40 points PER COLUMN". I then realized I had to add the Fear and Avoidance Columns.

    Keep it up guys and make sure to take the test again at some point. Many factors play a role and can influence the score, such as day of the week (Monday morning people tend to give different answers than on Friday afternoon). Also, a great tool to check if certain things are helping you to cope and get better or if they don't. Best wishes

    This was great, been searching for "social anxiety websites" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Telaavar Anxious Amanita - (search on google )?     Hey biclexual, it is usually recommended to repeat the test a couple of days after taking it. Frequently the score is affected by specific factors such as your mood etc. You might find yourself scoring a little lower the 2nd time you take it. Best wishes!

    I got 82 points (missing out 2) but some of the questions mostly depend on the person and how I feel around them in that moment. And I can stand up for myself if someone is treating me badly

Psychological tests often depend on many different things, and you might laugh, but especially on Mondays people see the world a little more grey than on Fridays, for instance. Just saying, you might score severe if you take the test another day. First of all, we want to point out that this is not a test created by us, but it is an official self report test used in different parts of the world, has been scientifically tested many times and proven an appropriate assessment method. We recommend, however, to not self-diagnose (just as you pointed out correctly). Our first and most important recommendation is to seek professional help from a local and qualified therapist.     I got 72, so i'm marked. I'm not surprised since i've been officially diagnosed with social anxiety by a psychiatrist. The reason probably why i haven't reached severe or very severe is that i don't have that big of an urge to avoid most social situations, i'm very extroverted so i love social situations (which is a pain as my social anxiety get the best of me and inhibits me from doing what i love, w talking to people), its just that i fear them WHEN the situation actually happens. But to be more specific, i fear the feeling of fear that social anxiety brings, ofcourse i fear almost all people aswell lol

    I got 85, but as usual, im doubting myself. Thing is, didn't know how to answer some of the questions. For example, for speaking up in a meeting, I would never do UNLESS there was a major consequence. Like if the boss says that he would fire you if you don't speak up. This was how presenting in class worked for me. I was terrified to do it, but I still did it because I feared getting a bad score and failing the grade for that year. I was awful at presenting, still am, and would never willingly do it in the future. I think too much. Even with questions like this.

    Hey Carsten, that's right, many question have this component. It is important to keep in mind, however, that being an introvert does not necessarily go along with social anxiety, and that extroverted people can have social anxiety as well.

    Hey! You did it correctly. Sometimes it is helpful to take the test a second time, since there are many things that can affect your answers (like having a bad day). Keep in mind that social anxiety is only considered a disorder when it causes significant suffering. If you feel like it is not that bad, you might disregard the high number you scored in the test. In the end, it is about how you subjectively FEEL. Best wishes!

    Hi Lilis, this refers to drinking in general, but does not exclude liquor. Some people with SAD worry about spilling their drinks, shaky hands, etc.

    My score was 100 and i took some test for depression too it seems like i got it to (i lose hope and overthink everyyhing and just be depresed or have mini pannic attaks nearly every day)but i dont want to self diagnose but i cant tell anyone about it cause every one just thinks that i am over reacting and i cant seek medical help cause of the circumstances. First of all, social anxiety disorder often comes along with depression, with depression being a result of having to deal with social anxiety (not in all the cases, but for most people the SAD comes first). Experts typically recommend working on the social anxiety, since it will have positive effects on the depression when the SAD reduces. Self-diagnosing is not recommended. However, the test you took is used as a self-report test worldwide and has a lot of science that backs up its accuracy. Of course we always recommend working with a professional. One thing that might help you is looking for a local support group. We have organized such groups for people with SAD in different cities and have found that affected people really benefit from meeting others with the same issue.     Hey Zeroh 21, what you mention is indeed a common problem in people with social anxiety. Since in the mind of a socially anxious person experiencing anxiety means potential danger to be seen as anxious, a fear of the fear, or anxiety of the anxiety, often develops. Especially to the subgroups of people who fear displaying physical symptoms of anxiety and those whose social performance is drastically impacted by high anxiety levels are affected by this phenomenon.

    Hi Erica, thanks for sharing your results! With tests like these, it is always recommendable to do them several times at different times of the week. The results may be easily influenced by the day of the week (Monday morning the world looks more grey than on Friday afternoon). Also, if you do not feel that your social anxiety holds you back or generates significant suffering, you may be only affected by social anxiety, but do not meet the criteria for an official "disorder" diagnosis.     With a score as low as this, social anxiety DISORDER is very unlikely. You may experience some social anxiety in certain situations, but this score is really very low. You might simply be introverted or simply someone who enjoys time by herself. Best wishes!

    I’m not sure if I got social anxiety and I also don’t know who I need to talk to to test if I got it or not, I always just thought I was shy, but I’m questioning it, because I noticed that it’s influencing everything I do and say in a big way, maybe someone could please tell me where I can go and test it?     Hi Sarah! This test is a self-report version which is used to give you a first impression. In order to test it professionally, we recommend researching mental health facilities & professionals in your area. An official diagnosis can only be made by a professional. However, diagnoses should be viewed with caution. They help professionals and affected people to have get an idea of what is happening and on what interventions may be helpful. Also, keep in mind that social anxiety is a normal human trait. It is very helpful & adaptive when it is not too intense, as it helps us make good impressions, which is crucial for interpersonal relationships, doing well in the workforce, etc. What converts it to a disorder is the suffering it provokes in some people. If you feel it affects your life negatively and you suffer because of it - and you miss out on things because of it - you may want to seek treatment.     Please speak to someone you know cares deeply about you! You’re so young still and you can learn from this and grow. Because while you’re young you can make mistakes and try so many things but as you get older you’ll be filled with regret and you won’t have the same opportunities you have now. I’m 22 now and I’ve seen so many of my friends grow out of their anxiety. While I’ve been stuck here for so long living in fear. I wish I would’ve done something way before. I’m not trying to rush you or anything. But everyday try to take baby steps out of your comfort zone. You’ll realize that people won’t notice what you’re doing because they’re too focused on themselves. It’s easier said than done but it works. I wish I could go back to my 12 year old self so I could be who I wanted to be instead of hiding.

    Hey Yaritzel, you took a crucial first step which most people with these fears never take: sharing your experience. I have organized and led various support groups for people with SAD, and I can tell you that most people only reach out after suffering for a long time. Fortunately, a lot has happened since SAD was first recognized, and by now we have effective treatments for different types of people. Given your age, I would advise you to consider sharing your feelings with your parents. A psychotherapy might seem intimidating at your age, but it is way more common than you may think and can have great results, especially for those starting young. Best wishes!

As I told Yaritzel, most people that join support groups are age >40 and have suffered for many years. With that in mind, you are still very young and it might be worth it considering reaching out to a mental health professional. A lot can be changed if you are brave and persistent. Best wishes!

    @@conquersocialanxiety tbh,I thought no one would see my comment,that's why I wrote that and this.im planning to tell my mom,I'm now 12,but it's hard.i tried giving her some clues,but she said I'm just shy.my whole life I thought I was just shy.the older I got,it got worse.im currently shaking because I'm not used to sharing my feelings.Thank you for your advice,I will tell my parents about what I am feeling.
