Measure For Measure

Ойын-сауық

Perhaps surprisingly, Tim has many rulers and tape measures in his collection. A ruler might seem a pretty basic and simple object, but Tim is always on the lookout for unusual items, and here he shares some of the amazing measuring devices that he has acquired over the years.

I remember my father having what was called something like "The Fisherman's Ruler" which had a standard Imperial foot on one end, and when you pulled on both ends it would reveal a filet knife, and on the flipside of the ruler was a fisherman's foot, which, on the same ruler, was calibrated to 18 inches or so. Quite a novelty! I was hoping it would have been featured here, but maybe some time in the future! Love your videos, Tim, keep them coming!

That diameter tape is a interesting tape that is potentially useful. I mean in a normal cylinder/circle you can just measure that. But for circular shapes that does not have a circular face, and too large for a normal caliber to reach. You could actually get some use out of that ruler. OF course you could just measure it yourself and divide by pi. But if you do a lot of measure that require diameter that does not have a flat point for access, it could be useful. It's neat because unlike the other rules shown, this one actually does have a practical use. Time saving measurement. Although I don't see it being that accurate.
