Nobody talks about what a nice guy Thien is, that he do readily forgives Kyle, shares his food, and helps him with his school work, and he’s so nice to Kyle despite him being a total a*se to him in the beginning!

I'm gonna be honest, I'm a Vietnamese and I remembered how once when I went to school the kids pretty much mocked my eyes. They had this song where it goes something like "This is what Chinese look like, This is what Japanese look like, This is what Vietnamese look like." and they would stretch their eyes a LOT to make then look slanted. Then they'd ask me things like "How do you see out of those tiny eyes?" and such. It might not sound offensive, and I dunno if I'm just being senitive but man, that sucked. Because of this, I ended up hating my ethnicity for a while. But I'm fine now though! I hope anyone out there who's also struggling will make it through as well!

I feel like asians are amazing. Im not asian but I would want a Asian friend. I really enjoy trying different foods and not having the same food again and again, also this would be a good way for me to learn about different cultures and traditions. Having a friend who has a different culture seems pretty amazing. And even if I didn’t like the food from that person culture I would say that it’s not really my taste or I don’t really like it but I happy to try it. This is just my opinion.

No one should bully a foreign student no matter what.

As a Foreign Exchange Student i can relate to this. I was bullied for my thick accent and being different. It is very sad how people will treat you differently just because you are not from America.

fun fact, eels in japan is critically endangered, so most of the freshwater eel you find in japanese resturants are actually american eels. and salmon isn't usually put on sushi until Norwegians started promoting it to them.

As a Turkish person who had always wanted to learn a Asian language, I think Asian culture is very interesting!!!

Thein is amazing. He's so nice! I can't imagine what its like getting picked on over race but I can say, I have been bullied for other things and it sucks. I'm glad Kyle learned his lesson.

As an asian this is actually true and I’m actually Vietnamese and people completely mistake me for chinese and when i bring Vietnamese food to school i feel embarrassed because people judge me for the food i bring.. and when my friends come over they sometimes judge my food especially the fish sauce…

same, im chinese and i bring chinese food to school sometimes. sometimes rude people behind me says “ew, what is that?” and im also embarrassed. but don’t be, just be yourself and it’s okay to bring whatever food u want! it’s your choice not anyone else’s. don’t feel embarrassed. it’s okay! 💖

Then, they ain't your friends if they gonna judge you for your culture and you can't let people do that. If someone said that to me and like my mom's cooking that I'd bring for lunch, you better believe that they getting beat up by me.
