Easily one of my favorite moments in the entire game. Just how seamless the transition was, and it makes so much sense to do this crossover in Chemical Plant. Such a stroke of genius. I died on my first attempt because I was just losing my mind at how cool it was, and looking at all the little details, like Sonic watching the beans as they fall. Then you best believe I hit him with the quad yeehaw on the next attempt.

When I first saw this boss on the first run of Sonic Mania, I was confused, I remember saying to my brother as I played it "Huh?, what's this, a game show boss? and then when the Puyo Beans showed up on the screen my brother shouted "Oh SHIT, it's Puyo Puyo!" and then I screamed "MEAN BEAN MACHINE! Legit, if the Bean Machine boss wasn't in the game, using this track for the final boss would have been fire.

It took me so long to actually figure out Puyo Puyo from when I first played the Mean Bean Machine game. I'm talking years and years of slight improvement.

Me and my sister use to play Dr.Robotniks Mean Bean Robot Machine a lot on Sonic Mega Collection. I was happy as hell to get this unexpected surprise when I was playing this.

There's a reason why it's as easy as it is, though: Mean Bean/Puyo Puyo is drastically different enough from regular Sonic gameplay that it necessitates being so easy that one must work at losing, especially since it appears only once in the entire game. Not to mention, it's entirely possible that the player has never played Puyo Puyo or Mean Bean, so the devs had to account for that by making this as easy as it is. Granted, I would love for it to be tougher. I'm a bit rusty now, but I used to be pretty good at Mean Bean, and I could use the refresher. But I understand the devs' perspective as well.
