Meal Prep With Me! 🥯

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I don’t know about you but, I have not had a great start to the year at alllll! I’ve been so inconsistent with my food and training resulting to me feeling not the best. I love routine and being consistent, it’s what makes me feel and perform the best! I hope this video inspires you to get up meal prep, set your intentions right for the week and truly do this for you as you deserve to feel great.
Recipe:
✅Chicken: Jerk & chicken seasoning, slowly folded in a frying pan with olive oil!
✅ Salmon: olive oil, salt, pepper & lemon, over bake for 30 mins
✅ Potatoes: olive oil, salt, oregano, oven bake 45 mins
✅ Greens: simmer for 4 mins, add lemon juice only
✅ Oats: @womensbest fudge power powder (link in bio to order!), cinnamon, peanut butter and fruit of choice
Have you or will you meal prep 👀👇

I cook for my family of 4 every sunday and we eat those meals for the whole week. It has really given us a better quality of life and I have more free time after work everyday to spend time with my children and my husband. We usually cook one protein for the whole week clean up a bunch of fruit and have some of it chopped up. I prep all of our lunches for work and freeze breakfast burritos for us too. Another big plus is the money saved.

I spend three hours every week, once a week, cooking my meals for the next seven days. It's SO nice to just be able to reach into my fridge or freezer and have a meal to reheat, instead of constantly wondering what I'm going to eat (and making poor food decisions because of it). The only thing you need to get used to is eating the same thing for days in a row, but honestly for me it reduces the decision fatigue enough to make it worth it.

Meal prepping has been such a lifesaver for me as it ensures I can have delicious and healthy meals thru out the week, limit food waste and also thoroughly enjoy my hobby (since cooking when on a slim timeframe completely takes out the enjoyment for me). In the beginnings it can be overwhelming and even a bit bland but as you go along and learn how to properly store your meals as well as what you prefer preparing at meal times rather than beforehand there are really so many benefits! :)

For those with busy schedules, you could make this whole meal by baking the salmon and veggies all on one or two sheet pans with silpat liner or foil at once to save time. And you can sub in cheaper but still healthy main proteins. If you portion then by weight you will be surprised how far your $ will stretch. Also look for sales on things like fish and poultry. Buying frozen is occasionally cheaper both for fish and poultry. or buy in bulk and freeze portions for yourself and family to make the recipes you want to make. Buy seasonal produce and if you live in the north when produce is extra high or scarce in winter, buy it frozen. When it’s in season grab it locally when and if you can. Farm stores, farmers’ markets and even grocery store has sales on seasonal produce sometimes. Or grow some yourself if you have space. Groceries cost a lot and growing your own can also but you can control keeping it organic and it’s guaranteed fresh. End of the day at gro stores sometimes has marked down meats and etc. ask your store when they mark things down.

You can also hire a chef for a couple of hours. Or you can even hire one of the culinary students that they get experience and you can write them a letter of recommendation and pay them maybe $20 an hour which is more than they would make elsewhere and you benefit and benefit. If they know what they're doing maybe it's two or three hours of meal prep you can just give them $100 flat, $33 to $50 an hour if they have a few more culinary courses.

Most good stays good in the fridge for a few days. I usually prep for 2-3 days and it goes in the fridge and extra goes into the freezer for days 4-7. Defrost as you go. Or prep again on day 4 and save the freezer stuff for the following week. Fruits are quick and easy to cut daily as required. A lot of stews and things taste better the day after once the flavours have developed. Chicken on day 3 is just fine if it’s been refrigerated. Between working 10 hour days (14 days on 7 off) and then gym, socializing etc. I just don’t have the time and energy to cook daily. Prepping keeps me making good food choices on this days instead of just eating fast food or ordering takeaway.

The problem (I have) with this is that you have to have microwaved-reheated food for like 5 days, and that gets old pretty fast. I prefer to meal prep just for 2-3 days or make a big dinner and have leftovers for lunch the next day. Rather than making breakfast, lunch, dinner for an entire week or so. But whatever works!
