I would take it a step further and say that her dream was to have someone to share her dream with. David being the kind of person to carry other's dreams on his back, made him the perfect foil to Lucy. A little too perfect, unfortunately 😪

I still think that David met the best end any edgerunner could hope for. He went out with a bang fighting an unwinnable epic battle for what he believed in and who he loved, while keeping his mind his own. He deserved a drink to be named after him in Afterlife. Yet I feel very sorry for Lucy, since her dream seemed incomplete without David.

I feel like at this point though, the moral seems to be shifting from "it's cool to die as a legend in night city!" to "when you die a legend, you still leave people behind." cause that's what we saw with V and with David, everyone remembers their names on a bar menu but the people they left behind wish they were still around.

The saddest part is realizing that even on the fake moon, having him beside her was better than being alone on the real moon. Life is unfair and doesn't care about your feelings. But other people do at least

its funny how one anime with 10 episodes and 25 minutes each basically reset everyones view on cyberpunk and instantly made this song from a chill song to a sad song for basically everyone that watched, it singlehandedly reignited my flame for the game and lore and everything in it

It's great more people are finally checking it out because of the anime but the game has always been good and hits the similar emotional highs and lows of Edgerunners. They're amazing companion pieces of media.

I want more cyberpunk, I think the show has reset the outlook people have twords the IP to somthing more positive and I'm glad I hope the next cyberpunk game takes it's time if we hopefully get a next integration the performance was horrible but the story was so good and the setting is still one of the best, heres hoping we get more cyberpunk.

dude i played the game when it dropped, 170 hrs. even from then i wanted a sequel. this series, this world, the city has TONS of potential tons to still be explored and even back then when the game was buggy i was still 100% fully immersed in the universe. that whole 2 weeks i spent binging the game it was like that was my home (granted at the time i also didnt have a job and was on break for the semester so i just had hella free time)

Yeah totally, i want another season. I heard somebody comment on the last episode about how short it was and how it ended, and they said that this show could be like an anthology, where every season is a new of group of Edgerunners, that sounded pretty sick, cuz they could explore tons of different angles, like maybe another season could be about a Corpo and what corpo life is like.

Man I remember when pre release footage showed them driving in the desert and this was playing in the car for like 4 seconds and I went crazy trying to find that song. Now everyone else is also having a reason to love it and I have another reason. Fly high David, and don’t cry Lucy.

And making him a construct doesn’t solve much. Most of what makes cyber psychosis a thing is the fact your brain gets fried. Why save a copy of a low level street kids mind who was a cyber psycho? Makes more sense to save a construct of someone more useful to them. “Followed” the anime and played the game and read the source material. Never been one to treat wild speculation as fact. Only reason I didnt feel much at the end is cuz I knew everyone was gonna die at the end (cuz thats kinda the theme of cyberpunk live by the sword die by the sword kinda thing) so I was able to prepare my heart I was actually surprised anyone lived at all I thought they all were gonna die

It’s sad that David never got a dream for himself and just chased everyone’s else. He couldn’t see past all the excuses he was making to carry on the will of dead people and placing such a load on his back. It made him care less for himself and listen to advice that would better his life as a whole.

Not everybody is a dreamer. I think people need to understand that there nothing wrong with that. David problem was that he got addicted to chroming himself and that addiction is what lead his to downfall.

His dream was to achieve Maines and his mothers dream they had for him. And in the end, it was saving Lucy and letting her live on. He died without any regrets, as you can see in his final moment, where he said "I don't give a shit!", to adam smasher and smiled for one last time.

He didnt really fulfill any of their dreams either, even sadder. Literally everyone else just wanted him to live. Maine wanted him to keep moving forward. His mom wanted him to live a normal life. Lucy lust wanted him to live period. He fulfilled nobodys wish. His death is just really fuckin sad

@@shadows1987 His purpose of living was helping lucy, he used his last sanity to give Falco instructions about fleeing with her and splitting the money to grant her a safe future. It is fucking sad, but he died knowing Lucy will be safe and knowing that he had become the person HE wanted.

I see a great parallel between David & Lucy's relationship and David & Gloria's relationship. At the start we see that Gloria is working extremely hard with a tunnel vision mindset just so David can climb to the top of Arasaka. She's so distracted that she never thought to ask what David wants. He even says he doesn't fit in while they are in the car to her face. Clearly the path in Arasaka Academy is not the way David wants to go but Gloria is working to achieve her dream not David's. With David and Lucy, he pretty much carries his mother's legacy of working for a dream that just isn't going to work. He is again, so focused with Lucy's dream of flying to the moon, that his head is among the stars. She just wants him to stay with her but of course he's carried away with an old dream that'll die. In a sense, David became his mother.

can we just talk about how much of an absolute unit V mustve been. the fucker was augmented out the ass with tons of different cyber ware and the only thing that fucked him over was just the fragment and that ONLY because it was damaged. dave gets augmented like crazy but you see him slowly start to lose after getting maines augments

There's a reason V is labeled the best in NC. She/he is the modern Morgan Blackhand. That's why Johnny always messes and belittles V at first when they meet. Because he was always jealous of Morgan and the name he made for himself, while Johnny was labeled a "Rockerboy".

My personal head anon is that when V fought Smasher, some of the chip’s merging began and he got the combat experience of Johnny, since he fought in wars and all that, combined with all those augmentations, he became more than a match for Adam.

Cant really put to words what I felt at the end of the series. I really saw the element of belonging with David in the crew chilling together after a gig, which lead him to fall in love with Lucy. You would think that was enough, the clan life, the love life and then just the everyday biz. I think what I would categorize the ending is just a bit of regret but maybe also relief for David. For Lucy, I wonder if she knew David wasn't going to last since the day they met. And now there is me, just riding, in game and Irl, wondering what's next.

Hearing this song while driving in the night is such a good vibe

Hearing Let's Eat Grandma kick in during the anime's climax was transcendent. I always drive around in-game to Pacific Dreams, and "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" is probably my favorite song in the game.

Lucy's dream changed after she fall in love with David. Even herself mentioned it to the David that the only thing she need is him. In my theory, lucy went to the moon just because of David would wanted that way for lucy. So i dont think going to the moon was important for lucy after David died, she just went there for David's promise. Because in that time she had just one dream, and the dream could not be come true anymore :/

@@calipergd yeah, I think there wasn’t much point in killing her- but I suppose it was to show how brutal Adam smasher actually is- wouldn’t have been as impactful if it didn’t happen so it’s a double edged sword

the ending made me cope by shoving the overwhelming sadness down, closing the tab and afterwards hoping she found someone she loved on the moon.

Even having a rough idea about what might happen from playing the side quest in cyberpunk about David, that ending still hit me hard. What a great anime.

For what I know the more chromes (body enhancements) they have the more side effects it does. It is based on the body's limitations and I think David had too much implants which caused him to go cyberpsycho

@@maning04 Wrong, it's revealed that cyberpsychosis is a made up term for people who have slipped through society's cracks succumbing to societal pressures. Faulty installations only contribute to it, you can be completely chromed out and not be at risk of cyberpsychosis. People with mental trauma AND bad installation of chrome (like david) are more prone to becoming "cyberpsychos" but as we see in the end lucy kept him from snapping.

The rebel path is often hard, but you’ll never fade from it.

I have seen so many of these video’s and that is a good thing

really glad this anime got people talking about cyberpunk again hopefully we will get more cyberpunk stuff
