MDT HNT26 Chassis In A 338 Lapua And A 300 Win. Mag. At The Range ( New Moose Hunting Rifle )

Спорт

I installed my Cadex 338 Lapua in a new Modular Driven Technologies HNT 26 chassis. I go through the unboxing and weighing of the rifle before and after the HNT26 chassis. After installation It's off to the range to zero and test the rifle in the new chassis and check for excessive recoil or if there is any POI shift. It is a really nice chassis and it will be going along with me on this years moose hunt. I hope you like this video and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments. Thanks for watching I will leave a link below to MDT's website

Just came across your video . I have a rpr in .338 lm , which is sub moa with Hornady match factory ammo . I picked up a bergara b-14 hunter in 6.5 creedmoor , for my 13 year old daughter to hunt with this year . After shooting this caliber for the first time , I landed on the same chassis mdt hnt26 , with a bergara cure carbon barrel , defiance lightweight action , chambered in 6.5 creedmoor and topped with a vortex razor hd gen 3 optic “havent purchased the optic yet “ Currently my .338 has a sightron sv 10-50x60 scope , but I haven’t been able to really stretch it out , furthest I’ve shot is just under 1000 yards . Your video is making me want to build this rifle in .338 for hunting big stuff ! Beautiful rifle man , you definitely got my subscription

Hi Dennis, Sounds like you have some nice rifles as well. I bet your daughter is loving that 6.5 Creed. I really like my HNT26 Chassis, so far I have had zero issues with them and they are a pleasure to pack and eat up recoil very well. It's hard to find an area to stretch out those rifles. I have one spot but you are shooting where 3 canyons meet and the wind is very unpredictable. If you build a 338 for hunting you won't regret it. I really enjoy shooting mine and they kill moose really fast. :) Thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing to my channel, I really appreciate it. I hope you and your family are having a great hunting season so far, all the best. Al.

Hi Sebastian, this 338 Lapua is light for the caliber. The muzzle brake adds a fair bit of weight and so does the magazine. I think I have it at the perfect weight. Any lighter and I’m sure there would be control issues. With it’s current configuration I can spot my bullet impacts. If I couldn’t do that I wouldn’t want it. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

Questions like this come from someone that's never shot large magnums. Lm need a larger thicker action than a std rem LA and need a larger barrel tennon/shoulder. Both add weight. Easily 1lb +for both over equal design in a std LA and good bit more than a SA. Go look up some of the weights for properly built LM/ NM rifles. The folding stock adds a few ounce over the fixed then the spacers. The 26oz is the fixed stock version. You actually do not want a rifle that is overly butt light so addedvweight in the rear is a good thing in setups like this.. Small movement is magnified with a light rear end. You would not want to shoot a sub 10lb lapua mag for groups. LR Rifles handle best right around 9lb min ready to hunt condition. Personally I would fit a better recoil pad which would add most of the spacer length.

@tonykomer2997 comments like this come from guys who've never hunted in the mountains or backcountry. I have a 338 and a 300prc that are about 8.5lbs with optic. I asked because that seems heavy for a rifle that's going to be used on elk.
