It'll be cool once the antiphonal speakers are or have been installed. Especially in such a big space. At my church, you have the main speakers next to the organ, and the antiphonal speakers, on the opposite end of the building from the organ so you can hear the wonderful acoustics and it actually takes some time for the sound to travel.

Sir there isn’t a better room for that instrument anywhere. And the voicing is perfect!!! Good job. I don’t suppose there’s a way to de-tune a few stops 1 cent or so…. The reeds in particular are too perfect. Otherwise it’s a cohesive sound. Way to go!!

Thank you for saying that the room is the most important stop on the organ. Digital organs are made to be installed in very reverberant acoustics like you have there, otherwise they sound terrible.

Any organ regardless - including pipe - will sound terrible in a room with poor acoustics. The digital organs have come a long way since their introduction in 1970.

@@txpipes61 Yes, I’ve heard pipe organs in poor acoustics too and they sound like what they really are - a box of whistles, haha! I have an Allen Renaissance at home from 1999, and without the Virtual Acoustics turned on, it sounds nothing like a pipe organ. The acoustics are what create the organ “sound” we are familiar with.

Exactly! I’ve seen churches locally put in small pipe organs that literally sound like a whistle box in a room with terrible acoustics. And unlike their digital brethren, they have no way of creating acoustics. They sound absolutely horrible as a result!

Should add the church acoustic is very nice indeed, how glorious a pipe organ would have been in this space, even if only 16-18 ranks!

Sounds like an Allen, nasal buzzing strings, xylophone flutes etc. In tuning numerous pipe organs for 40 years, not one has ever sounded remotely like this. The clarinet is particularly awful. What were Allen thinking? This represents the damage things like this are doing to the pipe organ industry, we’re totally forgetting what the REAL thing is supposed to sound like. Instead, a glorified MP3 player is taken as gospel. Sad.

99.9% of churches can’t afford a six/seven figure pipe organ. And most don’t have the space for one either. Which is why pipe organ companies are going out of business left and right. I have several Allen pipe/digital combos in my territory and they all sound just fine. And I’ll take them over the cheap junk the other digital organ companies are spewing out.

@@anb740 Yup, sadly you’re quite right, space and cost are huge factors in these times, have the same issues here in Bermuda and certainly we have some totally dreadful pipe organs, the worst in the main Anglican Cathedral in Hamilton. At between $6,000.00 and $ 10,000.00 per rank, few if any can ever afford a decent pipe organ save a few co cents halls. I didn’t mean to sound as rude as I came across, I’m just so depressed by the whole thing. I apprenticed with JW Walker & Sons Ltd in the UK, starting in the pipe organ business at age 16, so it’s been a huge part of my life. Agree about the numerous other dreadful digital manufactures, these are truly abominations, yet they are even appearing here now, and that’s really sad. My real concern is that economic competition with the cheep builders is going to force the good manufacturers to cut corners in quality and sound generation… Copeman Hart of the UK, who I used to work for, are not bad, but the rest really suck… Best to you! Adrian in Bermuda 😊😊😊
