In some ways it still is. If you compare the F1 to the cars of its generation those vehicles look dated along with some of the new supercars.

Long ago one had to decide which girl to take out of the two in his super car but now they've revolutionized the new f1 to accommodate both females for that three way experience

Speaking of those screws, they shrunk them and shaved millimeters of them if it meant saving weight!

Many supercars since the McLaren have gotten way more horsepower than 627, and yet only a few have beaten this car's top speed. The Veyron has 1001 horsepower and yet it's only 12 mph faster.

yeah i know where this is at, Palo alto, i going to this dealer this saturday with my friend to see this car up close for the first time. nice vid.

First they invented the wheel, then the car, this was the third step, nothing was ever the same after the F1, it is what we measure all cars against! It broke records and made established companies look at themselves and think. You had to be a kid and see what was available then on the market and watch this come into conscience. We were stunned and amazed. It was in the league of its own, all the materials and the construction made this the Concorde of its day,the cars flight to the moon!

@dmax123456 Its a dead pedal...essentially a foot rest for comfort when cruising. its just finished in a similar fashion to the working pedals for aesthetics.

@patatasete Actually it is it is 16 grams of 24 karat gold film used to reflect heat from the massive 6.1 liter 627 hp engine and protect the paint and carbon fiber.

For people who didn't know, the engine compartiment was gold (real gold) platted to make the heat exchange with the exterior better and the engine cooling better... Because gold is a better conducting metal than steel or iron...

Yes. Gordon Murray wanted it to work as well as the old Honda NSX, whose AC setting he had never changed since he bought it.
