McGrath was a great bowler but with poor sportsmanship. That’s why I will always rate Wasim Akram as the greatest bowler over the past 30 years, because not only was he a fantastic bowler to watch, but he was a gentleman of the game. He didn’t need to shout verbal volleys at batsman. He also smiles a lot.

Stever Rayner The thing you dont understand is, is that McGrath started it by saying to Sarwan about Lara. I thought that Sarwan made a good comeback with "ask your wife" about Lara, and his 100!!! He certainly let his bat do the talking. Sarwan didn't say anything about Jane's (Glenn's wife's) condition. At least he had some respect. With Glenn, he was always walking into the batsmen's path (while the batsmen were running between wickets - generally of the batsman who made the scoring shot off Glenn's bowling at the time.) Glenn would do so, as he didn't like getting scored off, and couldn't get the person out. So McGrath was just a Pussy!!!

Yeah you are right, so many times with Tendulkar, Lara, Dravid etc he really went overboard. And this is what I remember most about him. He would even sledge the minnows if anyone hit him for 2 to 3 boundaries....no capacity to take in pressure.

There's one another incident involving McGrath and Zimbabwean bowler Eddo Brandes. So McGrath taunted him and said, "why are you so fat ?" Brandes had the best of the comebacks and replied, "Because every time I make love to your wife, she gives me a biscuit."

Today, there is no one apart from I can say Warner and Smith. That team had Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Martyn, Bevan, Waugh brothers, Warne, Mcgrath, Lee, Gillispie. There is no match for those players to current Aus players. It was the greatest team in fact in the history of cricket. I am Indian, but its not Kohli era, had that team been playing today, neither Sachin could do anything about it, nor Kohli could have done anything.

@Sherry Peacock I agree with you. Now a days pitches are more batting friendly as well and bastsmen have more protective gear. Even though Kohli is one of the best batsmen in today's cricket, Sachin was still better than him.

This was one of the best 100s I saw growing up- i was 15 at the time, after all the verbals he took on the Australian juggernaut and overcame them to set Windies up for a great win. Chanderpaul's hundred in this innings was a beauty too, cs he just snuck up on the aussies, still attacked them hard but u didn't even notice he was approaching a 100..
