McDonalds - Flying Hamburger - USA, 1968
Featuring a wholly different clown to the one who became famous later in the 70s. Note the "McDonalds Is Your Kind Of Place" music being played in the background, circus style.
Film dated June 5, 1968.
Taken from a 16mm print in my collection.
16mm transfer and colour correction done by: James Paterson, Australian Television Archive.

The commercials for the new IT are really creepy.
Good Gosh! I remember this ad from when I was a boy. Strange how memories from half a century ago can be brought back by youtube. But I didn't recall Ronald being so creepy!
They’d be in trouble for false advertising with this today
One of the greatest fights of the 60's, man...Ali beaten by a human hamburger.
I remember seeing this aircraft at McDonalds when I was a kid...Dayton, Ohio. It was on a trailer behind the building.
About two years before we got a McDonalds in Victoria BC, we saw these kind of McDonald commercials broadcast to us from Seattle. Over a half century later and I could still remember them. The ad agency earned its keep.
That is Ray Rayner playing Ronald. Mr Rayner was a Chicago kid show host as well as being on Bozo's Circus in Chicago as a clown Oliver O'Oliver

Ray Rayner aka Ronald McDonald! Totally Shocked Me!
Spongebob wasn’t lying when they go right to your thighs.
Take me back again to this era this time of life. So simple so kind so innocent. Today it’s all dead now. So dead
Fly Ronald, fly!
Him saying that McDonald's makes a person strong is funnier than him chasing his hamburger vehicle!
Wow, I haven't seen Ronald's Flying Hamburger ad since Kindergarten! I also remember ads where he lifted a barbell and sank into wet concrete, lost all of the contents of his satchel while running to catch his "Trainburger," and bounced on a Hoppity Hop and landed on top of the Golden Arches sign. If someone has those, please post. Thanks.
THANK YOU for sharing this classic commercial! - The one prior to this had a "silent film" motif. It featured a narrator with a funny voice, and skinhead weightlifter with a handlebar mustache in a wrestling outfit called "Mister Mussle". He was Mc Donald's first protagonist. (That is where they get the "muscle" thing with this advertisement). The ad featured the clown being challenged to lift a heavy barbell. Ronald blows up two black balloons and tied them together with a rubber band inside a black cardboard tube. He lifts it and twirls it in a comic fashion that humiliates Mister Mussle! After he sets it on the ground, Mister Mussle gets ready to lift it. Thinking it was heavy, he prepares for the feat, and with a mighty heave he pulls it up so hard, he launches himself upward into the sky! The narration then goes into a splish about the great food and service at Mc Donald's. The commercial ends with Ronald flying on his hamburger. Mister Mussle rises up to his level! Ronald uses a pin to burst the balloons, and Mister Mussle drops out of the picture frame once again!

"Really great... go together." I think he's running on 5 brain cells
Anything Pre-Ronald McDonaldland from the late 1960s with Him and His Flying Hamburger was totally Awesome! Ray Rayner aka Ronald McDonald was a Bigger shock to me in this as well! Rayner was also Great as Bozo's Circus's Clown Oliver O' Oliver from WGN Channel 9 of Chicago! Loved the Picture Quality of this Video! That Wide McDonald's Sign with the Expanded Grounded Arches was Great and wished that they never had changed it! But Instead went to the smaller on the pole look version type sign like they have now! Thank-You For sharing and God bless!

A location near me actually still has the 1960s sign with the arches that extend down like you see here. Sign panels were replaced over the years, at some point they actually went back to the original 60s sign panel, just without the number of people served.

Where does this commercial takes place?
Back when McDonald's had architectural style, class and life.. the big colorful sign that has the Golden arches that say hamburgers and billions and billions served. McDonald's used to be exciting and full of life. Now they are boring box buildings outside and lifeless inside with employees that hate their jobs and poor service. No uniforms and pre-made food in warm up packaging. No cooks needed, just add water. Oh and can't forget the No human contact kiosk order station. The future looks bright... not!

The golden age of greedy corporate America.
I don't eat at McDonald's because it's tasteless, expensive, bad for the environment, unhealthy, and a big American corporation. However, if they brought back a flying hamburger, I would have to reconsider my stance.

I saw the flying hamburger at a McDonald's grand opening. A girl fell off of it and her head was badly bleeding, kids were screaming and crying. Ronald McDonald tried to distract the kiddos but they were scared by the sight of him and Bagan screaming at him as well. Geese no safety at all.
I'm sure I saw another one where he doesn't talk and a spokes person says " look it's Ronald McDonald and his flying ( yes flying) hamburger. Anyone , did I see that or was it just the 60s
This is disturbing.....
i don't feel like this ad is real
