Absolutely - those two could go together. But you can also play these descending patterns over changing chords (although it gets significantly harder, of course!).
Nice reveal .. McCoy Tyner sounds are so effective and funky: I like it !!

Man, McCoy seems like he'd be easy to imitate but his style is actually super rich and complex!

Thanks much, Stuart! Happy holidays!
I wonder if one should usually accent the high note of a grouping.

Generally, yes! Often, we emphasize turn-around points and ascending leaps in the jazz style.
Jeremy: Is any of this McCoy pentatonic style described in either of your two books? If so, which one.

Sadly, no. I’m saving it for Jazz Piano Fundamentals level three, hopefully coming this winter!

@@JeremySiskind Please send a KZread memo when it publishes. This is a great video.
It would be interesting to listen to those patterns against the drummers cymbal play. I think he’s playing with the drums the way he places his accents.

Interesting...I don't know if he's playing *with* the drums...but certainly it's useful to say that he's playing percussively or drumnistically, almost like he's playing the ride cymbal pattern on the piano.
Hi Jeremy, thank you for a wonderful lesson. Could I ask if you have any sale for Christmas on the book this year please?
