Hello🤗🤗. Your method of attaching the skirt to the bodice makes so much more sense than the pattern guide. Thank you lovely lady💗

Your fabric looks like a beautiful light ultra suede …. (I had to view without volume ). …. Love the rich fluid drape.

Thank you! I'm glad you like my version! This fabric has been growing on me! ☺️
I never would have thought that bulky-looking dress could be used with a knit! I especially like the blouse option, and will probably buy it for that! I discovered your channel through Sarai Mitnick at Colette Patterns who recommended you. I love it!

You should try it! ;) Thank you!
Based on watching your video of McCalls 8312, I have bought the pattern! ❤ Your method of sewing the sleeve and sides of skirt all together makes the pattern easier. The only thing I would consider doing differently is not sew around the pockets - I would do that separately and after I had sewn the sleeves and skirt. I'm not sure if that would work just as well? There's a couple of videos on KZread where 2 different people made this dress and attempted to sew the sleeve and sides as described in the pattern instructions. The result was somewhat messy in my opinion - having to snip the seams in several places for it to lie more comfortably. They both also seemed to endeavour difficulties placing the bodice to the skirt. (It didn't seem to fit well) But thank you for simplifying the pattern. I'm looking forward to making this dress; and I may even attempt to do a peplum top like your black one too! ❤ Lots of love from me to you, from England UK. 🇬🇧

I love this dress. I will try to make it! Thank you!
I love your fabric choices and outcome! You made that dress look like something I would like to wear when it hadn't even been on my list before. 💙

Yay! I’m glad you love my M8312! 💛💛
Going to have to grab that pattern, and use a knit with some drape. Your dress and top in knit rather than woven fabric is far more chic than versions I've seen online made up in woven cottons.

I am new to your channel and thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have this pattern and was a bit skeptical sewing it. This video motivated me to do so. Will be sewing this mccal pattern #M8312 this month for sure.

😊❤️
I love your videos 🙂 I have read that it’s best to make a smaller size than the pattern calls for when using a stretch fabric to make a garment from a pattern designed for woven fabric. Can you comment on that? Best wishes, Ann

I think you should consider the pattern type, fabric type and the style you want it to be when you decide the size! I used my size as I liked to keep the pattern’s oversized puffy look! ☺️ If it is a stretchy and growing material, you may need to go down a size!
I've had this pattern for a long time! After your video, I definitely decided to sew! but I don't know what fabric to choose. I also have linen+ viscose and cotton Vichy . I'm thinking 😅😅😅
@SewingTherapy

That's great to hear you're ready to start sewing with the pattern! The linen+viscose blend will give a nice drape and softness, while the cotton Vichy will provide a crisp, structured look, IMO. Happy sewing!

Hi Sara, I'm working on this lovely pattern at the moment - I don't know why it hasn't received more love! I'm wondering why you create your own seam line on the pockets rather than stick to the shape of the pocket?
@SewingTherapy
Жыл бұрын
Exactly! This pattern deserves more love! I thought the original pockets have too wide opening so I made my own line!
This is such a pretty fabric! What type of stitch did you use? Straight stitch or stretch stitch? I'm still intimidated by stretch fabric! Lol! I love your new dress pattern that just came out, but unfortunately, with my waistline or lack thereof, I can't wear that style! 😢😂
@SewingTherapy

I used a straight stitch! 😂 I know what you mean but you can skip the step of wrapping the ties around your waist and wear your Hanbok as an oversized fit according to your preferences! ☺️
Hi Sara! Love your channel. Did your video skip how to finish the cuffs? Maybe I missed it. Are they elastic or gathered in a binding?
@SewingTherapy

I usually skip hemming parts! 😅 I did add an elastic on the sleeves!

@@SewingTherapy Would have been helpful if that was included in the video! I've literally just spent 2 hours trying to figure out how you got the sleeve cuffs like that....
What type of fabric did you use for the dress? It’s so flowy but also has weight that cuts down the billowing I’ve seen on other version.
@SewingTherapy
Жыл бұрын
I used viscose linen for the dress. I'm glad to hear that you noticed how the fabric has a good balance between drape and weight, which is something that drew me to it in the first place
To make the blouse in knit fabric, do you just use Self fabric for the facing as you do with the woven fabric?
@SewingTherapy

Yes, I used self fabric for the facing! ☺️
Hi miss, new subs here, what sewing machine do you recommend?
@SewingTherapy

It really depends, but mine is Bernette and I love it so much!
Better if you give measurements for 36 bust size
Sarah how did you know what body measurement to use to cut this pattern to your size. Did you use the finished waist measurement as stated on the instructions?
@SewingTherapy
Жыл бұрын
There must be a size chart with body measurements somewhere.
i think i missed how you did the sleeve cuffs? was this in the video? thank you
@SewingTherapy

I somehow skipped that part! I just double-folded the sleeve hem and inserted elastic!😅
Do you know the McCall’s blouse pattern 7325? I have that pattern. I think I can easily change it into this dress!! So similar.

I noticed that you lengthened the bodice. How did you modify this? The blouse was a little thight fitting around the bust (I gave it away). It is something that is complained about more often with this pattern, e.g. at PatternReview. How can I change this and get your beautiful bodice instead, when I turn this blouse into a dress?
