This is a fix. The file name to which this video likely refers is "FMS_logo_microsoft_7_1_.bk2". Edit: The file name is also written in the video's description. I commented without looking at it first.

I regret buying this collection, I've had the fatal error crash from a long time ago. Microsoft devs couldn't fix it. I've tried your suggestion and didn't work either. It happens with Halo 2, I start a campaign and instantly crashes.

Could it be modified halo maps that are outdated? Cause those will crash your game

@@nicolae-alexandruluca7853 It was crashing on story mode, not online. However, miraclously a recent update fixed the issue, after 2 long years i can finally play halo 2.

I'm interested in how you were able to pinpoint which file to delete. Was there a stack trace you analyzed? Why did you delete that movie file when nothing pointed you there? We can delete files and set different settings all day but if you don't have anything to backup why you did what you did, please let's not make a problem worse by GUESSING.

ITS FINALLY FIXED

I started experiencing crashing issues on Halo 2 Anniversary, crashes when trying to load Delta Halo. All levels before it worked fine up until that point. Gonna see if this can work.

If you have this issue, Try verifying your game installation by right clicking the Halo: Master Chief Collection in your Steam Library's game list, Select "Properties", then select "Installed Files", then "Verify integrity of game files".

Maybe try verifying the game files if that doesn't work or you are not using it through steam try reinstalling halo 2, I wish I could help more but that is all I can think of for that issue.

I run into this issue every time I try to boot up Halo 2's campaign. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and it still didn't fix it.

I have this issue right now too with halo 2 campaign, did you ever find a fix? I uninstalled, reinstalled to C drive, redid graphics drivers, launched with -windowed mode, nothing is working :/

It only crashes when i load up halo 2 missions.

weird idk why it would do that. have you modded the game at all? I know one time of my mcc breaking in a similar way of this video and it was for some reason one or more of the mods I had installed so I had to remove them and reinstall the game, after that it worked and I could reinstall the mods and they worked so I have no clue.

sorry for the late reply. I have had that issue happen as well before. now I can't remember the exact reason it is something to do with the game either being in windowed mode or not being in window mode and tabbing out of it will cause the issue. if you are running it in full screen try using windowed or borderless. if you are running it in window mode already try the opposite. That "should" fix it. all I can really remember about it sorry if none of that works. I know that a game called Contagion on steam also has the issue and its even mentioned within the settings of that game.

@@KitsuneDeite update: I think it was the custom skins. When I turned them off for each Halo game, the game hasn't crashed since. Thanks for this tutorial though, game loads faster now lol.

@@TrickZ883 It's been a while but I went deep into the settings from the main menu. You have to turn off "custom skins" for each individual Halo game. That should solve it.

@@KitsuneDeite Yeah, everytime you start a good gaming session "fatal error" xD, ive heard that the skins was the issue, i dont remember were i read it, someone said you should remove the skins from customization. could possible be that because i recently added some after buying from the exchange for the first time. Sence then i got fatal error..Only on dedicated servers tho
