In this episode of Men's Locker Room, we are in conversation with a Civil Engineer who turned into a Desi Hip Hop sensation, MC Square. He is a proud Haryanvi who has always believed in staying true to yourself and sticking to your ancestral roots no matter what.
The winner of MTV Hustle 2.0, MC Square shares his experience post-winning and how his family initially reacted to him pursuing a career in the Hip-Hop industry. He shares his career shift from an engineer to a rapper and how his passion for various forms of art, whether music, raaginis, dance or even shayaris led him to build a solid foundation for himself in the industry.
As the conversation flows between MC Square and Sadhika, we get to know his perspective on the generation gap that often exists between the parents and gen next. He also sheds light on the beautiful bond he shares with his parents and family. Despite gaining fame and becoming successful, we see a different side of this artist who is down to earth and often feels shy when someone listens to his songs in front of him.
He also talked about the evolution of rap, and how the next wave is going to be of regional and cultural music getting the centre stage over Bollywood numbers. MC Square also deep dives into the cultural aspects of Desi Hip Hop and why it is gaining popularity among the masses as a way of life and not just a form of entertainment. He candidly talks about the legacy left behind by Sidhu Moosewala and how he became a national phenomenon due to his humble beginnings.
The conversation then diverts to how artists often use autotune and lip sync while performing and how it’s not that big of a deal when done with caution. He also openly shares his views on the Bhagavad Gita being quoted in Oppenheimer.
MC Square also shares the valuable lessons he learned from all the judges and participants at MTV Hustle and sheds light on why he prefers to stay single over dating someone at this point in his life.

I accidentally bumped into this guy a few days ago in Delhi. This person is just a gem. He was talking to me as if he was not a big deal. I wanted to talk to him for hours and take a selfie but then the crowd around us would have gone crazy to see him there so I just kept my calm as he came there in his personal capacity. But I think he has multiple personality disorder. He is not the "badmosh chora" when he is talking to you but on stage he becomes something else. I don't think I have met such a soft spoken man in my entire life and knowing the kind of verbal weapon he is. God bless him man.

1:01:23 Exactly what I said to my wife about why Bollywood does better songs than individual artists while we were seeing MC Square rise. Arya also tried the same thing with Nauvari / Raja Razi stuff. Artists get so deep into their zone they leave their audience wanting for more while at the same time leaving nothing to “hum”. Ram Ram was iconic because it doesn’t matter if we remember the rest, we will hear it again and eventually remember. Of we stay on Hustle2.0, Cowboy by Paradox was phenomenal. But it didn’t have this “short reel” vibe. I actually think that MC Square knew about this even before he entered the competition. He gave “short reel” vibes to every song …. “Badmos Chhora” “le le Ram Ram” “Aadha Gyaan” “Chehra” and eventually “Naina ki talwar chali”. Paradox had some success with short catchphrases like “Gang aale munde” and “Jaadugar” but his better songs were “Jaadugar” and “Glitch” without the short catchphrase narrative. Doing too much sometimes leaves audience wanting for much more, and that “more” could be a repeated “short reel”.
