MC Hammer was so fun! Too bad back at that time Black America cancelled him. “Gangsta rappers” got jealous & called him a “sell out” because he built a brand & started doing commercials. He was sincerely one of the most generous entertainers of that time. Now look at all those same artists who clowned him for going mainstream & branding, doing commercials, acting, pushing their own drinks & clothes etc. MC Hammer💕🔥

Pretty much. MC Hammer paved the way for a *LOT* of people to get paid. Doesn't get any credit for it. Interesting that the biggest African-American pioneers in music were either sabotaged, cancelled, killed or any combination of the three. MJ, Prince, Whitney, 2-Pac, Biggie, MC Hammer, James Brown, and many others.

M.C Hammer was the consummate performer of the 80's and early 90's; flat out entertainer. Any award show he was on, had you tuning in Great reaction🔥🔥🔥💯👍🏾

Haha I find the energy far more preferable to "Pumps in a Bump", where dude signed with Death Row and gyrates the entire video in a thong
Hammer was the best! He was the first from the West to rule Hip Hop!
Hammer and his dancers were dope.
2 Legit 2 quit by Hammer is fire 🔥
Bro you have my respect as a young brother. Your reaction brought tears to my eyes because you got all of the steps and moves that we did back in the day when this was new. Thanks for your open mind and appreciating artistry from a different generation.
I can still taste the Long Islands and Mai Tais listening to this cut. It was a club banger!
He may not have been the greatest lyricist, but he made hip hop dance able and people gathered not to be hating on each other as much. Made me dance a lot when this song came out!
Nephew ALLLLL THE DANCE STEPS Hammer did in this video we ALL DID. That was how we danced back then. At The Clubs, In The Streets. That was just US. We as A People were ALWAYS KNOWN as Dancers and Singers. It is ONLY in this generation that has come that all of that has basically vanished. What he does in the video is how we danced.🤷🏾♂

You have to see 2 Legit 2 Quit by him!
The look you get on your face when you're enjoying a video just makes my day!
Hammer definitely had his own style. Different from the rest. During that time people had their own individual styles. That's why you had your groups like Kwame , Outkast, Run Dmc, Arrested Development, Salt and Pepper, MC Lyte etc. All different. They all had their own unique way and individualism. Not like today most look like the rest. Style is a form of individual expression. 😉
Should check out "Pumps and a Bump", now THAT'S super high energy from MC Hammer!!

@@powerbad696 Yeah probably back in the 80's when they first aired.
I remember like it was yesterday this was Hammer’s debut single and my favorite by him. I was hooked from the first video. I was a dancer back in the day so I learned all the video moves and when I got a chance to see them in concert back ‘89’ ppl was watching me in the audience just as much them cause I knew all their moves.😂This was before ‘You Can’t Touch This’ and before he blew up. Shout out to Oaktown 357 and those guys in the hats was supposed to be a fake Run DMC BTW😂😂😂
He was chasing what Michael Jackson and athletes were doing with selling products and branding. Especially, since he grew up in the baseball culture. Rappers were jealous of his crossover success and considered it corny. Now today that type of marketing is the staple to being a hip hop star now. So ironic.
I've watch this. i don't know how many times
Also Yeah Yeah Yeah but Oaktowns 357 is a banger

This was Hammer's introduction to the world, his 1st video . This was before he blewup to the You Cant Touch This part of his career, which many say he went more Pop than hip hop, there's some truth to that. This is on the Pump It Up album, my favorite part of his career. He had songs i liked layer on as well, but these was his RAWEST days.
That sh..t was tight tho you rite..that beat, his moves, the whole thing..I still come back to this & bump this whole album every now & again some 30+ yrs later..classics stay official they never go out of style. He still had it into the 90s its just the record companies added on to his concerts & shows too many extra dancers & crazy glittery suits on him & he lost his street cred as the pop scene crowded out his street scene. But late 80s at this point he was like the hottest thing on the West coast..but they were still bumpin' this & Turn this Mutha Out on every station even Hot 97. I remember that whole period. Hip Hop was barely 10 yrs old so it was a mixed bag of styles unlike today. Ppl in the streets was bumpin' this hard tho. His style seems kinda funny today but nobody had seen nothing like this before except maybe MJ was a body moving type music & the break dancing scene. In fact some stations DJs tried to say he was overshadowing MJ but everybody knew that was saying too much. His style of Hip-Hop made cars bump hard & his whold style got in you & made ppl get hype & dance. Hip Hop today has lost alotta that freedom of diversity of styles. It was a body type Hip Hop. It was just a d'ffrnt time. I'm glad I lived to see it tho.
Str8 up entertainer right here... And to think they didn't even have energy drinks back then. LOL
This went so hard when it came out and i was 7 💯
That was his first single from the first album.. he was so ridiculous lol but it worked because in 1986, Hip Hop was just approaching the golden years. You see who he was dissing in the video, Run DMC (they were the hot group at the time). Rakim had just come out, BDP but really that was it. We've come a long way. Check out the MC Hammer documentary his career went from a million to 0 over night smh.
I remember me and my sister got into a fight because I was watching this video trying to learn the dances and she turned the TV!!
Hammer was The Man…Nobody could match his energy besides Michael Jackson…when Dr Dre Snoop and gansta rap took over..he tried to change with the times but it was a little too late…
I've never heard of this one but it was 🔥 Great reaction ❤
I'm telling you, check out his Funky Headhunter album.

Hey,Lovely, what about -Turn This Mutha OUT video ??? LOL.
This was in response to people who were dissing Hammer. The ones telling him to shut up and sit down. He had a huge beef with Run-D.M.C back in the days. They were suppose to be the one's wearing the black hats whining at the beginning of the video. MC Hammer full movie at this link on KZread kzread.info/dash/bejne/do5lqdOieaTedpc.html
K, it's safe to say this is the 80's. He's getting it in!! Damn Hammer gets no respect after his bankruptcy. He is such a pioneer. One of the first rappers to get commercial deals and even be a commercial rapper cuz he can REALLY rap, not just the entertainment the stuff he did. I think he was the first rap millionaire too. At least having tens of millions. Ppl called him a sellout etc. Now every rapper is selling something. Heck even Nas did a Sprite commercial.
