In his 2017 sit-down with VladTV, West Coast rap legend MC Eiht discussed his career and experiences in Hip-Hop. The rapper opened up about West Coast artists losing their identity over the years by trying to follow rap trends. I was a little white boy growing up in the city when during the summer of ‘92 a week before my 11th birthday my buddy’s 17 year old brother Lavell was taking us to the movies and the arcade (he was like a big brother to me) was bumping Straight Checkn em…I loved it…he dubbed the tape and said “Don’t let your parents find it, and if they did, you didn’t get it from me…” I was exposed to so much great hip hop, AND so much great punk and metal due to the people and place I grew up in. I wouldn’t give up that shit for anything.
That straight up menace was like crack to us, and that We come strapped album is the ish!
