I used to work at a muffler shop and these exhaust systems for new vehicles coming out are over priced by more than 50%. What you installed was basically a straight pipe with a j-pipe next to it. The j pipe eliminates drone. This setup could of been made been made a custom exhaust shop for half the price. Just FYI for future buyers

Yes but a lot of these exhaust shops can't weld worth of shit. I have been screwed over so many times and have had my exhaust hacked on. These exhausts mean you don't need a welder, know how to weld and can install it yourself with a clean look.

GotahavitGRn 5.0 ...if you are doing axle back, why would you want to put aluminized pipes on the back of a stainless system. I don’t know of any muffler shops that carry stainless steel pipe, and if they do....are they able to cut, bend and weld it ? Back in the day when I wanted duals on my Malibu with a 307, I would go to a muffler shop, pick out a pair of Cherry Bomb mufflers, have them bend some aluminized pipe and I’d be good to go. Not so with my $45k Camaro. I’ll dig a little deeper in my pocket for a dedicated, stainless kit.

The crackle and pop sound at the end is so satisfying too my ears 🙌🏾

I have the MBRP on my 5.0 mustang and I have the same giggle that you guys do every time I hear it pop. Not only was it the cheapest option, to me it's the best sounding one out there.

Those engine braking exhaust crackles sound amazing. Just like the C7R corvette at Lemans when it lets off at the end of a straight away!

My wife brought me the MBRP catback for my 16 SS let me tell you it sounds amazing...Great job guys..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had a mbrp axleback on my c6 vette. I actually think it's one of the better sounding ones but it did drone on the hwy. I eventually went with a corsa sport on my heads/cam vette because the drone got a bit annoying. At WOT the corsa is actually louder, no drone but the tone was definitely deeper on the MBRP. Sounds more old school

The pipe coming off the side of the MBRP is a "J-pipe" design. It's designed to disrupt the sound waves that cause drone.

The weird little sound chamber thing. The point of it is that the sound waves from the exhaust, some will go down that path, hit the back end of it, bounce back and enter the main stream again. The change in sound wave will cancel out the drone common with straight pipe exhaust. The effect can be adjusted by changing the length or the diameter of the chamber. Solo Exhaust does something very similar for my SS (not Camaro).

i love the sound, very deep very muscular. Im debating making the cut to mine. Im not a huge fan of the cackling noise as much though. it doensnt seem too bad, is there a difference between that kick back sound when using automatic compared to triptronic? is it less? Does it always make that cackling sound or only when driving at quicker speeds?

Those J pipes DO NOT eliminate drone! I tried both MBRP race axle back, and MBRP Street axle back on my ZL1 and the drone was absolutely horrible!!!!! I bit the bullet and went with a Corsa sport. Absolutely no drone at all, and sounds great! Very pricey, but worth it!

My mechanic’s currently installing it into my SS. I can’t wait to hear this baby irl

Did you have a check engine light cone on after the exhuast was put on? I've read guys have it come on because the NPP is unplugged, also did you guys have to weld anything or was it just all clamp on?

so the thing that controls which sound mode you want located in the muffler? so if you put new headers with no cat pipes and just leave the stock muffler on and you can still control which mode you want?

That's why I only buy Corsa or Borla exhaust for my cars. You get what you pay for and don't have to fuck around with anything, it just goes on easy. I had my stock exhaust off and my new Corsa Sport Cat-back exhaust on in like an hour and a half on my 2016 Mustang GT/CS.

Magnaflow stainless exhaust rotted away on my GXP. It was on for 5 years, but I was not expecting that. Their customer service is weak as well. I'd stick with Borla/Corsa.

Yea I see people selling there magnaflow catbacks for mk6 gtis on the fourms and they are rusty as fuck. Yet my borla catback is still 100% rust free as it should be after michigan winters. Funny thing is for these cars they cost almost the same its around $50 dollars difference.

MBRP is cheaper for a reason. I don't think they are bad exhausts at all, but they are always quieter than the other cat-backs. This was true for the 5th Gen Camaro also. I will say though, I love the back rap/decel pop on this car.

I got the axel back for my 19 SS. Sounds great, low tones but I’m getting drone at 3000 rpms. The installer may have done something wrong but the drone isn’t bad. I just prefer not to have it.

No, the exhaust doesn’t have valves but once you hit cruising speed, the AFM kicks in and it makes for a quieter ride once you’re no longer accelerating.

Stock with headers and no cats sounds so much better!!

It reminds me of the criminal suitcase muffler that came on the 08-10 Challenger SRT8..no performance car with a V8 Engine should ever come with a fukin suitcase muffler, or resonators for that matter Also, now your 2SS should be around 50lbs lighter

You have to select the 1SS model and then it gives you the 1LE option. It's not available for the 2SS model.

Good shit i have a 97 Camaro with a 3.8L V6 with aftermarket exhaust that growls like crazy so I know what you feel it's great don't get me wrong I have a 95 Chevy Camaro convertible with the 5.7 liter LT1 that bitch gets down

Here's the same sound for about $3-400 . Remove factory mufflers and resonators. Buy slp loudmouth 1 resonators. Have them installed with 2 1/2 " pipe. Wahla all done.

RP Productions thanks I mean I knw where to order it from. I was just stating what MBRP told me. they told me the exhaust would sound wierd on an automatic since its an exhaust made for a manuel.

Just bought this same setup for $250 used for my 2ss wish me luck boys.

It lets you "Manually Override" the auto trans and down shift or up shift as many gears as "The trans" lets you. Some cars they will only allow you to shift up a few gears until you reach a certain speed. Chevy Cruze 1.4T Auto for example you can't manually go into 6th gear until after 41 MPH where manual trans you can do whatever you want.

The cat back is for a manual, the axle back fits on either. These guys installed an axle back. You can actually fit the cat back on the auto but it deletes the AFM valves which throws codes unless you tune it out or buy a AFM delete kit.

Stupid question but do the SS cat backs fit the 17 ZL1?

Adam Griffin it should, everything is the same except the ZL1 has a supercharger and a different hood. So it should be the same.
