My favorite thing about this episode is that they TRULY get lost in the bit. I love the war with grandpa ep, but part of the gag with that one was purposefully stretching the discussion as long as possible. This one it seems like they genuinely didnt realize how long they were talking about it until like 50 minutes in

The way they described Plato’s Rave as a rabit hole going from a Container Store to a level 10 rave sounds like a MeowWolf installation 😂

I started this episode and thought "huh, the vibes are a bit weird on this one" and only remembered the Tumblr post about how this was the wildest episode they'd ever recorded when the jarring ad break 15 minutes in happened, and the proceeding episode is now one of my favorite things y'all have ever done.

I’ve never wanted a Mbmbam animatic of an entire episode more in MY LIFE. Please animators, destiny is calling?!?

It's like an escape room but in reverse where you're trying to get more and more trapped. Big backrooms vibes, I'd do this in a heartbeat

I like how, just given these fellows' combined personalities, the best way they can conceptualize someone's ideal experience of going to a rave is by making it a complicated real-life video game 😭

I have never had the urge to talk about an episode before with people… I was listening as a podcast came here just to see what people were saying. That said… the idea of a fan animator listening to the rave part like “yes! This is so funny and visual it’ll make a fun short cute animatic!” The segment just keeps going…. And going… and it just reaches this untenable, prestige drama length. The animators are like, “oh no… I… I can’t do this…” 😂

my first rave I showed up to the warehouse on 5 hits of acid, and I had the 10 dollars to pay to get in, but I just asked someone in front of the door for some glow sticks and walked in dancing. I pretty much didn't stop dancing till it was shut down by the cops at like 3 am. then we went back to the house for an afterparty. also mdma has been used in therapy for ptsd. it helps them talk about the traumatic event without being triggered, so they can work through it

I listened to this episode stuck in traffic on a drive home from college, and I think that was the single most entertaining drive across Colorado I think I have ever had, and that include the many times I've listened to Death Blart on that same drive.

This induced a new anxiety nightmare in me, that while trying to navigate the locks of the rave canal I somehow get my vibe going the wrong way and form a blockage, a human Ever Given, trapping people at unsustainably high levels of rave.

When they started talking about raves, and how there's no sitting room and only super crazy vibes you can't escape, I thought back to the one rave I have ever been to, and several electronic music festivals. There's a large space to chill out, with low music and comfortable sitting, to relax in between periods of crazy dancing (or if that's simply more your jam). Raves are not 0 to 100 all the time, in my very limited experience. Still doesn't hold a candle to Plato's Rave, to be fair.

Best episode in a long time.

How is there no animatics anywhere of the Plato's Rave section?? Seems like it'd be perfect for that! (if I had any drawing skill at all I'd be all over it!)

I love the idea that squirrels have cloaca.

I imagine the candy king in 10 is just keeping the whole place running like the spider demon in Spirited Away.

I really think Plato's Rave would make a really good Netflix's Alice in Borderland -esque 8 episode show

Man I love the boys but when it comes to raves they're so far off base they're not even in the ballpark. Raves are fun as fuck, it's wild to feel the energy of the crowd sync up with the music and the majority of the people who attend are super chill. It's been years since I've gone to one but damn I really miss it.
