Watching this review was fun since I literally own the same car with the same specs, but 2022 model. At around 9:15 he speaks about the quality of Bose sound system specially in this car. Reason it stands so out amongs others is because Bose actually specifically designed this sound system FOR this specific car. The placement of the subwoofer and its diatance from the passengers, the fact that they avoided putting speakers inside door pannels unlike every other car (to prevent rattlings) and other reasons all contribute to why you will LOVE this sound system :)

The sound system sounds better cuz Mazda moved the front speakers from the doors to the footwells. This reduces vibrations & creates a cleaner crisper sound

Beautiful car and spot on commentary. We have the NA 2.5 Sedan. Exactly right on the suspension. Over time you realize it is actually quite stiff, but still pleasant. And looks and style wise; there simply is nothing like the 3 on the highway. Great news on your MPGs! Again, great review.

Great review! My White ‘22 M3TH PP is getting delivered Sept 10. I’m told it’s the very last 2022 Mazda3 ever made - it just happened that it’s going to be delivered within 30 miles of me, and I saw it within an hour of it showing up on their site - all by complete chance and dumb luck. I put a deposit on it within 1 hour of it being available… whew!! Anyway I’m excited. I’m coming from a ‘17 STi and am ready for a more mature, yet similar car. Getting older, and having a manual doesn’t help when you have bad back and leg problems!

I have the 2021 Mazda 3 Turbo Soul Red. I play the music so loud every day. Whenever I detail the cars with the door open it drains the 12v battery quickly. I found a solution to the 12v battery issue. I bought a recharge battery charger and I usually recharge my car once a week. As for the oil consumption I never had these issue. Now running with 17k on the odometer. I even had reconsider trading in and going for a BMW 240i Xdrive soon someday. I'm more into modification since B58 engine has huge potentials with modifications.

I am a Mazdaphile, been driving the Mazda brand from 2005 to the present. The big thing to be aware of is the paint is thin and will chip or flake easily. If you can get the 3M protective layer on the hood, the lower fascia, and the mirrors, you will be happy. I am under warranty on the matter; Mazda has not determined if they will honor the warranty. My car is garaged, waxed, and polished on the regular. This is the one Achilles heel of the brand's cars. I drive a 2018 Mazda 6 approaching 100,000 miles. I would like to get a Mazda pick up truck, but not sold in the US. I will keep my 6, and if I must, I will get the hood painted. When it comes to getting tires, consider the Continental Contact Extreme series, they are meat hooks on wet pavement. My daughter has the Mazda 3 hatch like yours minus the turbo, and she loves it. I was driving a 2012 Mazda 3, and the car was totaled. My daughter drove a 2017 Mazda 3, rear-ending an SUV with a tow hook. The car was totaled. We both walked away with no injuries. What more can anyone ask?

  • @pablocruze9307
    @pablocruze93079 ай бұрын

I just picked up a preferred sedan. I agree with all the points you made. For me, the suspension handling of bumps is the worst con you mentioned. If it bothers you, the easiest thing to do is adjust the air pressure in your tires. I'm sure you have the 18 inch wheels with a shorter and stiffer sidewall than the 16 inches I lowered the fronts to 34 psi and the rears to 32 psi. If you go below 32psi you'll get warning lights that your tire pressure is too low. It's not, but that's the limit Mazda set it at. Anyways, this softens the sidewall and gives a smoother ride . My car came with Bridgestone. These are crappy tires. I plan on switching to Continental DSW06 Plus tires. These will smooth out the ride even more, especially if I go down to the 16 inch wheels.

Yes Mazda makes some fantastic cars and SUVs. I have been a Toyota buyer for many years. Decided to make a change and buy a Mazda. The first time I got into a CX 5 premium, I was blown away by the quality and no road noise compared to my Toyota. Fast forward I’m now on a 2022 Mazda CX 9 preferred plus, and soul red crystal metallic! Absolutely love this SUV, yes the mileage is not the best especially if you have your foot in it. But it is definitely a drivers car you feel amazing when driving it. All of my friends comment how quiet and luxury it is. I will completely agree with you I cannot stand that piano black finish that they put on everything inside. I completely agree that auto makers need to stop this trend. I keep swiffer dusters in my car at all times. Hate the dust on the black, drives me crazy. #MisterCleanDrivesThisMazda

I have a ‘21 same trim level and it was kind of annoying when I went in to the dealer for my 5k mile service that when I asked if it was low I was told that they don’t burn oil it’s that people lapse on the maintenance intervals. They told me it needs to be at 3.75k miles. That’s all fine and well but a brand new car running fully synthetic should be good to go way over. There’s a TSB out and luckily mine is out of the vin range but it’s always on my mind when I’m thinking about maintenance

Bought my 2019 mazda 3 premium sedan FWD non turbo brand new in Oct of 2020. It had been sitting on the lot for about a year or so. I just hit 35k miles. I paid considerably less than you at $23,500 out the door. The dealership offered me about 1k less than I paid for it the other week. The best mpg I got on a long trip was 37.5 better than the advertised 36. I normally get high 20s to low 30s driving mixed in my area. One thing I'm worried about is that my car randomly stalled out on me at a red light recently. I replaced the engine air filter and put lucas injector cleaner in gas tank and drove it hard after. Should probably spray some throttle body cleaner on the flap haven't looked yet but may have some carbon on it. I have an annoying creaking sound coming from my HUD or around in that area. Also have a rattle in driver door panel both sounds being intermittent. Kinda depends on roads and temp but not all of the time. Had some stuff sorted out at the dealer under warranty but those sounds remain. I have to go back because my trip button and gauge bright/dimmer buttons aren't working probably the dealerships fault as they were working fine before.

The battery was always iffy in cold weather for our 17 CX-5. Haven't noticed it so much with the 23 turbo we enjoy now. Oil consumption problems I think could be attributed to folks that decide to "hoon" a brand new car. No problems with the 17. Not enough miles with the 23 to tell yet.

I bought a 2015 Mazda 3 Hatch and the battery lasted 3 years before it died. When I replaced it, I realized the factory battery had less of everything than the replacement by about half. I've heard from others how bad the factory battery is and it sounds like they still skimp on this item. I would also recommend getting the tires warranty coverage at a place like Goodyear or other automotive service center. I had an unfixable puncture in the first year of ownership and a replacement set me back about $150 in 2016. Goodyear was the only place who had the tire I needed so when I had it replaced, I covered all my tires on their warranty program. Goodyear sux and tried to rip me off when I actually used the warranty to cover another unfixable flat later, but you have to know the program and insist they abide by it. All these large auto service corporations have declined into really bad places, including Dunn who I wouldn't let near any vehicle I care about. That's a whole other story! Nice review, glad I bought the car when I did, some of these things the newer Mazdas do are things I wouldn't want to live with!

Yeah that seatbelt chime is annoying as hell. Its even better if you are sitting in park, brake on and just chilling and it starts up. Did that to me for the first time last week. The black piano pieces are so sensitive. First clean down of interior I got those scratches. The radar cruise and collision avoidance is the first things I shut off after starting car after one day almost getting rear ended because the car thought I was going to hit a car up ahead slowing to turn and after on the highway a car whipped passed and cut over causing the cruise to hammer the brakes. I have the rattle at times too. But I love this car, mine is just the sedan. Got it because I honestly did not like the hatchback look compared to the sedan. I just wish I knew the turbo was going in the sedan this year or I might of waited a little longer. Maybe trade in soon haha.

Ditto in regards to the annoying seatbelt chime, Piano Black trim, Bose sound system and torquey low end power delivery. What REALLY attracted me to my 2021 3 Turbo 2.5 was the refined ride and low noise along with exceptional steering response and handling. The excellent power delivery along with still good gas mileage was icing on the cake. Unfortunately, the relatively low noise and refined ride did not last long. By about 6000 miles the road noise intrusion increased dramatically and then by around 8000 miles the car began to ride stiffer and bouncier. I believe the noise issue is a result of relying on what are quiet tires when new but once worn become noisy and there's insufficient sound deadening to prevent the noise intrusion. As far as the ride degradation it has to be be cheap and inferior gas filled struts. At 16K now the ride is so much worse than it was when new. I suspect that, like many cheap gas filled struts, the gas pressurization has long leaked out. The tires have been rotated every 5000 miles along with the oil change and at the 10k interval I had it aligned which did correct a straight-line stability issue it was having. Even with the degradation in the ride, it is bearable. It still handles like a champ and is fun to drive around town, However, with the tire / road noise issue, I dread driving this thing on long highway drives

@@shyamlall.s.4038 I suspect a good set of Michelin Pilots, which are vastly superior and cheaper than the Turanzas, would resolve the majority of the noise issue and might reduce vibration / harshness. I suspect that the harshness which begins to increase in these 3's is a product of the Turanzas wearing down and decreasing the tire "cushion" but may be also attributable to suspension bushings hardening with wear and age.

Thank you, Royel! Great question. The loaded-up CX-30 is about the same price, has the same turbo engine, and largely the same interior. You do lose out on the red interior option in the Premium Preferred trim, and you don't have the same aggressive aero on the CX-30, nor quite the same driving dynamics, given the increased ride height. Unless you need/want the increased ride height, I'd go with the regular Turbo hatch. I personally think it looks better, is more engaging to drive, and is available with the red leather in the top trim. Just my opinion! Both are great options.

Sorry to butt in - but I wanted to drive the turbo hatchback and my preferred dealer (no additional markup) only had a CX30 turbo for test drive purposes. He suggested I drive it to at least get the overall feeling of the powertrain and chassis. I was VERY impressed with this car’s capability, features, and interior quality. All of which are essentially the same on the sedan and hatch. Net result is I am ordering the hatchback to get the color combo I want (polymetal grey and red leather). Plus, we already have a Volvo crossover that we like. CX30 will have little more room in the back seat and more, but not much more, cargo capacity. But the deciding factor for me is the looks - I think the hatchback is gorgeous, one of the most stunning designs out there. It’s very polarizing. Some people really hate it, but I don’t care. I see a lot of CX30’s around (relatively). Hardly ever see any hatchbacks. You’ll stand out in the hatchback vs the CX30, but you decide if that’s a good thing of not! Good luck.

I wanted to upgrade to the turbo model from my N/A premium AWD model but as disappointed to hear Mazda didn’t seem to upgrade the brakes, and the fuel economy is worse. I was regularly getting 38mpg on the highway before I swapped tires to mitigate the harsher ride; 225/45 DWS tires helped immensely with noise and smoother ride. The turbo model being heavier with more power needs more braking power. The standard brakes barely cut it in my opinion. Thanks for being one of the few people to prefer not having a touch screen. The Ux on the infotainment is super simplified which is why using a scroll to navigate is more intuitive than using your fingers to tap and navigate - takes much more hand eye coordination while operating a vehicle. People don’t seem to get that. Also, the way Mazda set up the infotainment in the 3 allows them to move the screen further back meaning the screen is less in your peripheral view and more in your direct line of sight. Making it a touch screen means the screen would have to be closer to reach. I noticed how much of a difference having the screen further back makes when I drove the new Corolla with the nav screen seemingly right next to your face in comparison to the 3. How’s the paint holding up? Seems like paint chipping is an issue on Mazda’s. I have my 3 in Soul Red. Only 3 years old but has TONS of chips….. I hope Mazda does a mid cycle refresh for the 3 and adds their new 8 spd DCT to the mix. The 6 spd auto is good (much better than a CVT for sure) but it holds the engine back.

I agree with you regarding suspension and the infotainment unit rattle on my 2020 hatchback GS with a 2.5 engine and manual transmission. I'm kinda thinking they could be related, the interior rattles (glove box area too) because the ride is too harsh, especially for the rough roads we have in Canada. I've actually pulled the plug and I'm getting a GTI soon with DCC. PS, I'm surprised snow tires are a thing in Utah, no one puts them on in the Midwest where there is quite a lot of snow. Also, no issues with oil consumption and also, a software update by the dealer solved my issues with the sensitivity of the radar cruise control. In settings or on the button on the steering wheel you can change how closely you follow, I change that to suit traffic patterns/road I'm driving on and it works.
