A suggestion, in order to facilitate removal of the radio unit and lessen the risk of damage to the front plate, instead of pulling it, like you show at 2m27s, go to the removal of the glove box, at 3m00s in, then put your hand in the well, on the left, and push the whole radio unit out front. This is much easier that way. Another thing, there's another product I've been using for now 11 years, an XCarLink, which has aux, 30 pin iPhone/iPod adapter and Bluetooth (optional) which would be more appropriate for iPhone users. Had to do a similar walkaround in my Ford Falcon to get a bluetooth module installed. Luckily the connector is easier to access, just under the steering wheel. Great video, will definitely be my first mod when I finally get an RX8

I have a different stereo type than yours, I think it's type A but it has a Cd changer which is weird... Anyway, I plugged a similar product into the free port behind my stereo and when I turned it on, nothing happened when I held the CD button down. Any thoughts?

Bought the part coming in tomorrow!! Do you need the usb dongle for Bluetooth? I’m guessing that’s what you plugged into the adapter.

Hi Driven by madness. My Rx8 the heater, blower temperature is bouncing around from hot to cold. I think its the wire in back of the control knob. Do I have to disassemble the radio to get to the wire? So annoying, especially that it's winter.

However if you have a CD player option with the radio you need to purchase a parallel harness because the CD player already occupies the port. And I don't know where to get it at this time

I just had this installed and although it shows external device when I press cd twice, it just starts a timer as if media was playing and nothing happens. I don’t hear anything. Hello ! Brother 8 ! I have instaled a yatour on my 8. I connected to my tablet screen via jack and i left bluetooth for my mobile. I have a problem though..i can't change track's. I have to mention that my car volume work's correctly. Only thing i can't change track's from the car !

Also if it’s not working hit the number 2 in the radio, some rx8s like my 2005 version 9.82 worked but I had to put it in external 2. Just mess around with the buttons

Hi dude, excellent tutorial as always. I've been considering Yatour for a while. Have you had any negative experiences with it yet? I've also looked at grom and connects2. Im finding a bug in android or the Bluetooth devices. Sometimes the volume is set to 50% when Bluetooth connects but cannot get that volume back to full even with the phone Vol. It looks more likely it's a Bluetooth issue. This device is great though. Having the option to use hard wired aux is definitely a fix for me until we can figure it out in XDA. Awesome as always though mate. Keep it up!

Hey man :) Never had an issue with it. Volume works from lower to max, like with the normal radio. I have a popup in my phone that blocks volume when connected to headphones or aux, but i just press ok, and it lets me go from 50% to 100% volume. Hi, thanks for the video. It was great to have instructions. May I please ask a question ? After I installed the adaptor the sound works fine on bluetooth and aux cable but after about 15 seconds the EX mode always disappears from the screen and the music stops. When I listen to the radio everything is ok and it does not switch off. Have you had this problem at all ? I have tried with two other mobile phones using bluetooth and an aux cable and I always have the same problem. My version is 9.55 like yours.

JaiBoo Thanks! Well, there already is a pretty good video on led's. And I wont put a subwoofer iside, mabye just better oval speakers in the back for more bass

For anyone attempting something similar, I tried the Yatour but found it had a bad hum and buzzing noise at all times even when using FM. I ended up returning it and getting the GROM-BT3 and it was dramatically better in quality (it's bluetooth only out of the box though).

Any modification to the stock audio system in the RX8 means modifying the controls for just about everything inside the car so it is often times more expensive than the car itself. The Yatour fixes that

EnzedDev do you have an LCD screen as original? If not, try disconnecting it and replacing it with the adapter, if you already bought it :)

you can just replace any radio in a rx7, the rx8 climate controls share the radio lcd so you need this adapter

I never tried that, but speakers dont matter, it will work with new speakers, but i haven't tried it with a sub :/

How do you connect the Bluetooth

So I have a series 2 which had 6disc CD changer, an aux port in the center console and Bluetooth for phone calls. So the only thing I gain from this is the ability to play music through Bluetooth but I have a feeling this isn't going to work so well with all the stuff I already have in the car from the factory. Anyone tried this on a series2 ? I would like to play music on Bluetooth instead of the aux cable (for those that don't know the factory aux causes a wonderful whistle noise other the speakers that grows with rpm)

I just installed mine. It worked until I turned the car off. When I turn the car on, the stereo will play music for 1 second. then the speakers will turn off. The stereo remains on but the speakers will turn off. Still haven’t figured it out. My version is 9.55 and it’s a 2005 Mazda rx8 shinka.

Will this work with an iPhone using bluetooth? I noticed you did not show this device working with bluetooth. You hooked up the auxiliary cable and the usb. Before I buy this I want to be sure it will work with my iphone using bluetooth. Thanks so much

Sadly i did not get the bluetooth version, i got the usb, aux and SD card one... To be 100% sure you can ask the n a facebook group. But imo, bluetooth is Bluetooth, so either android or iphone should be the same...

Easier way? This is as simple as it gets. Minimal effort needed to install it, and it takes 5 minutes to complete. If you don't want to run the cable to the arm rest, you can have it in the glove box where the adapter is, but then you'd have to open it every time you will want to connect it with your phone :)

You can't put it in external device mode, without an external device connected. If you're firmware is listed under compatible, then you shouldn't have any issues with it. Get it and try. Many people including me have bought it an none complained so far.

Nice bit of kit. Shame my firmware is 10.01. Except for replacing the head unit, are you aware of any way round this problem?

If you want to keep the Original radio sadly, no. But you can always install a double din screen radio. They have special adapters for the rx8 too :)

Check on ebay or amazon if they have a adapter compatible with the firmware you have. Alternatively, there are some Bluetooth adapters that you plug in your cigarette lighter that work with your radio and your phone.

Amir Santiago it works for any Rx-8. no matter the year or transmission all rx8s where built the same, some with auto or manual, and some with heated seats and some not. either way all rx8s are mostly the same :)

All important question does it work on the 10.1 stereo version?

Check that you installed the back pin correctly and that the cable on the usb box is tightened. Also try disconnecting it and reconnecting it

I already have a plug bluetooth,. It works fine BUT it doesnt work on my subwoofer,. I mean if i play a cd the woofer works but it doesnt on bluetooth if it makes sense,. I was told to get an agtermarket stereo with a cable plug 😕

hmmm, that's strange... Sorry but i have not had that issue, so i can't help you with that over the internet :/

I will add your controls stopped working because the front panel has 2 connectors on both sides that join to the main CD changer unit when you pushed it back in you actually connected those back up, nothing to do with the screws bro. There is also some contact pin right in the centre of the back of the main front panel which is pressure mounted against the stereo, its the worst design ever but hey what can we do. Also I reckon it is possible to plug in that white connector without removing the stereo, I managed the antenna plug from the side which is right next to it haha.

Does the 2004 Mazda RX8 come with blue tooth or aux standard?

No. It's from 2004. My wife had a top-of-the-line '05 Toyota, and it had an Aux jack as a new feature, with no Bluetooth.

How do I know what firmware is compatible? Mine is 9.82 should I buy it or not.

10.1 and 9.81 are not compatible. I've heard that version 9.82 should be compatible. You can ask the seller for double confirmation :)
