this was my dream car and my first car and i gotta say, no regrets, it lived up to all my expectations, its so fun to drive, its such a unique experience, u cant get it with anythin else, even like a miata which is similar, yea its a little down on power but if u treat it right and u get some simple but quality modifications, u will have a great time in one of these bad boys

I had a 91 5speed turbo II white with white rims as my first car I traded a 1988 4x4 s10 5speed I loved it but this was in 2003.

I had my first fc back 1993 at that time wasn’t any drifting around here in the east coast specifically in NY,NJ they used them for road racing and drag racing OG Puerto Rican can confirm that.as we all know they are the best and the ones with more experience here in the US and Puerto Rico head quarter of the fastest rotaries cars!!!nice video 👍

Honestly, my first car was an '86 base model coupe I picked up for $1200. I have absolutely zero regrets. It was rusty, I had to do the clutch master cylinder and alternator on it, but otherwise it was fantastic. I bought it with 180k km on the clock and it didn't quit on me until 240k, which is well past the life expectancy before a rebuild. All you need to do is do your oil changes every 5k instead of 10k. It's really not unreliable if they're run properly. Honestly, I don't even know if it had quit on me, the issue was either the water pump or the side seals and I didn't want to buy a water pump to gamble on it working, and rebuilding the engine on a rustbucket wasn't worth it. Also disagree on the cargo space issue. It being a hatchback means you can haul a surprisingly large amount of stuff around with it. You might have to have the hatch open and tie it down, but you can haul some surprisingly hefty stuff with it if you fold the passenger seat back and the rear seats down.(the rear seats are a complete joke though, agreed) How little did I regret it? I currently own an S5 convertible that I plan to own for the rest of my life. Zero issues. Fantastic car. Also, only the very first gen of RX7 had a 1.2L engine. Ever since they started being fuel injected, they've been 1.3L.

Love the turbo II and the vert. If you think it’s to much to maintain it. Just leave it be. I’ve had my s5 black on black for 5 going on 6 years with no issues with 352 rwhp. And daily my vert if it was not for kids. It be my go to car. Also anyone interested in buying my turbo 2 turn key. 19500.00.

Nothing but respect for all versions, they are just a better engine, easier to rebuild, easier to maintain, the problem was, no one changed the oil, and the oil was put into the combustion chamber- the designers thought that you would be responsible - for responsible drivers these cars are excellent

Seen some sell for under $5k without a drivetrain. Some look ok while others need some work. Great vehicles though.

Trim levels did matter. Certain trims had better brakes or differential. And different trims had 4 or 5 lug wheels. Also not all trims had rear seats. As for reliability, I do no more maintenance than my Corolla and premixing is not hard lol

Trim levels are important to know, do your research before you go and spend your money. Knowing the difference between a S5 GTU and a S4 GXL will tell you that you can just add a turbo to one of them and it'll be the same as a T2, vs having to swap drivetrain components (NA FC trans are VERY weak) to support your goals. Reading is still more important than watching these ENTERTAINMENT videos.

Not the same engine. Same concept but they are a lot of differences between turbo and non turbo engines.In the USA market the FC was introduced in 1986 not 1985

The Series 4 / Series 5 designation came from Down Under - the Aussies and NZers started the Series 1 with the RX-7 back in 1978. If you talk about Series 4 / Series 5 FC in Japan, they will all look at your funny. The Japanese call them Zenki FC3S / Kouki FC3S. All US-spec Turbo (II)'s only came in manual 5-speed transmissions; JDM FC3S' did offer auto trans in some models. As for electrical reliability, the car is not bad for ~30 year old car; all switches / relays / any mechanical electrical component is not designed to last that long. Compare that to Euro models which barely make it 10 years! I'm tired of people ragging on the engine reliability of the rotary engine... More accurately, the rotary engine does not tolerate as much abuse as a piston engine. If you want to ping / detonate the engine or bang off the rev limiter all day, don't get a rotary...period. With more performance comes more maintenance, period. All of the original 13B engines for FC's are suspect, because they run an old 3-piece apex seal - if you rebuild and run the current 2-piece apex seals, they goes a long way to having a longer lasting engine.

Sooo much wrong with this video. Engine is a 1.3L twin rotor, aka the13B, not the 1.2L which was the 12A used in the 1st gen RX-7 (SA22C/FB) The trim levels do matter, the base GX comes with an open diff, 4 lug wheels and weaker brakes, the GXL has all the luxury options of the Turbo II (minus the engine, stronger transmission and differential), power windows, sunroof, leather, bigger brakes, 5 lug wheels, and LSD. GTU model is rare ultra light version that came with all the good parts the GXL had minus the power options, sunroof, leather etc. Plus you talked about rally racing not being a good choice for a FC, and a second later played a clip of Rod Millen's Group B AWD RX-7 f***ing rally car... Sorry bud, if your gonna make a buyers guide, spend more time researching and less time talking out your azz
