Let's talk about what the CX-5 has over the CX-50. CX-5 has 170lbs of sound deadening materials added to the 2nd gen, including headliner, wheel wells, engine compartment, double seals in all the doors. Also has accoustic glass in the front 3 windows which greatly reduces road noise. The CX-5 also has independent rear suspension, and most importantly, it's made in Japan.

CX-50 has towing capabilities with the turbo model, and they tout that you can set up a tent on top of it that 3 people can sleep in! I am having a hard time deciding between this and the CX-5. But it may come down to overall cost for me and opt not to do a turbo.

I just hate all that plastic cladding. It looks super cheap.

You also get torsion beam on the cx50 vs the more expensive multilink on the cx5 which has been used by Mazda since way back that even a '89 mazda 323 has it.

Man you just read the basic specs off Mazda’s website. A review should be more comprehensive. You didn’t talk how the different platform build differentiates the driving experience with Cx-5 having a heavy steering. You didn’t talk about volume vs cargo comparison. Common you call this a comparison video👎

Have a 2021 CX-5. Love that car. It even takes light off road duties OK although for anything too rugged I have a truck. CX-50 is more like a Subaru than a BMW/Merc, while the CX-5 is trying to play at luxury more.

The CX-50 is not built off of the Cx5 it’s built on the same platform as the Cx-30. It’s okay to compare but two vehicles are not related body style wise. Power train wise very similar.

The CX-5 sells twice as many cars than the CX-50 - that is the big difference as of the end of 2023. People still want the older model over the newer one.

The downside to 20 inch wheels is that most of the time 20 inch tires are not in stock and I have to be special ordered.

Yes, 20’s are very expensive even if the width is the same, they are heavier (hurts acceleration and braking), and they give a harsher ride. No thank you! Give me 18’s or 17’s.

I just got this exact same car, color and wheels. But yes he has to be way over 6'5 because I'm 6ft and I can't see over the top of the car like he does.

It's *5 inches longer and 2 inches shorter* than CX-5. Sounds logical.

Yes the roof line sits lower so you can utilize the side rails or crossbars easier it’s based around being a competitor to the Subaru outdoors line

Mainly, the CX-5 is made in Japan. The CX-50 isnt.

Basic Physics: Higher load can be handled better when center of gravity is lowered. That is CX50

The Cx50 is both longer and slightly wider then the cx5. But the cx5 is slightly taller in height. Surprisingly enough the cx 5 has less headroom for rear passenger due to the slope of the roof. Cx50 has more head clearance all the way around.

Cx50 comes with tbs in the back...no comparing to cx5 that comes with independent set up.

I dont like the materials from the front dont follow through to the rear doors (hard plastic)& the lack of a 40/20/40 rear seats & a log suspension out back that makes the cx50 no bueno for me🤓.

You have a lot to learn dude, the build quality, nvh, and road noise on new Mazdas is at a minimum. No rattles in the interior ever, materials are better than they every have been. While I admit Kia/ Hyundai is doing awesome, they haven’t passed Mazda in any catagory.

@@MartinAston00 lol I have never owned a Mazda, and I don’t plan to anytime. But I’ve driven multiple new models and so I know by first hand experience, they are fantastically built these days. You can think they’re ugly all you want, but thinking they’re poorly built, is just false, end of story.
