One of my favorite places in Mexico. I’ve stayed at the Hotel Maria Coral several times but not sure it is open since COVID. Trying to return for Carnaval 2024 at the moment. If you want a tranquil place to stay yet just a panga ride to the city and upscale dining stay in Isla de Piedra.

How did Carnaval go?
Would you recommend going this route "on your own" rather than an excursion? Have 4 adults and 4 kids and seen excursion that include boat ride, lunch and open bar, plus 2 activities $65/40. Seems like doing on our own likely be significantly less expensive
