Mayweather vs Marquez | Ultimate Highlights! (Master Boxer)

Спорт

Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Márquez, billed as Number One/Número Uno, was a welterweight superfight which took place on September 19, 2009, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas between five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 KO) and three-division champion Juan Manuel Márquez (50-4-1, 37 KO). The fight served as a return to the ring for Mayweather, who, after his knock out victory of Ricky Hatton in December 2007, announced he would take a two-year layoff from boxing which later turned into retirement.

    Good to hear , he has so many super fans that most of them discredit all his losses , because mayweather went undefeated doesn’t mean he’s better and I’m a huge mayweather fan. The answer is with some of these big time fights I think they should continue the match till someone loses no split decisions no draws = less controversy

    It only took one fight for Mayweather to solve Marquez's style, but Pacquiao had four fights with him and never even came close to figuring out Marquez. It was actually Marquez who improved each fight until he got the KO. Like Roger Mayweather said, most fighters fight on heart, but not the brain. Pacquiao was fast and athletic, but his boxing IQ is average.

Even saying all these years, that May was afraid to fight Pac. That's why the fight came 6 years late. Everyone knows Manny will fight anyone. He was and is never afraid to fight Floyd win or loose. Do you think Pacquiao thought Mayweather was a dangerous fighter than the others that were bigger and had more power? He waited, and waited til the 5th or 6th year coz he knows eventually age will show and he can confidently face his fear. I think maybe after Marquez knocked Pacquiao out that he realized he can handle Pacquiao. Coz maybe his belief is boxers after get knocked out cold are never the same. Also, when Mayweather fought against Pacquiao, Pacquioa was year younger than floyd.This is just excuses people make. If you aren't at their peak then don't take the fight. Floyd outclassed everyone. Few times i seen close bout against him. Even Marquez himself said, Mayweather is on different level than Pacquiao. Maidana was last fight i watched where someone came close to beating him, but the second fight between them Floyd figured him out.

But neither was floyd mayweather in these fights. Floyd has damaged his hands over the years from fighting. That is why you see such defensive style from him. Floyd until Tyson and others doesn't really drink alcohol or do drugs. Yeah he has ducked few fighters, especially boxer withith faster hand speed.Still he is on another level. Best ring iq. I hated floyd, i wanted people to beat him. Still do but i doubt i will see that.

I already know marquez is a static type fighter and a counter puncher he will not be able to do much with his dodging and rolling and not brawling type. not really a genius you praise him too much there.

    I recently had a conversation with someone that thinks he knows a lot about boxing but in reality they don't and I agree what you say they want to see blood and teeth flying, but they forget the best boxer is one that receives less hits by avoiding with defense and counter hits with as much possible to win every single time that's how the sport is like it or not. Mayweather will always be known for his great defense even so many might've not like his style, but if they wish to see blood and teeth flying there watching wrong sport. P.S: Many of our Mexican fighters have lack defense greatly until now that we have Canelo he has become an overall complete Boxer and many have a hard time accepting him as the pound for pound best at current times.

Manny complained about the cash then complained about the drug tests not being 14 days before the fight. He made such a big deal that he said blood tests made him "weak". Then saying his loss to Morales was due to the tests being a day before the fight. 6 vials of blood are taken. Equal to 24 ml with 4ml per vial. 18ml with 3ml per vial. There is no way drug tests had any affect since you get back the volume less than a couple hours after. 60 ml of blood cells are restored in a day vs the less than 30ml that were taken the same day. Manny was superstitious and wouldn't take the fight in 2009 without knowing about the tests 14 days before the fight. Where he can basically do anything.

    Mayweather's head is always very near Marquez, and as Floyd rests his weight on his front foot, it creates an illusion that he is near Marquez. But when JMM throws a punch, Floyd easily pulls his body back, transferring his weight from the front to the rear foot, recoils and gets ready for a counter. This is why Maidana's formula works on FM because Maidana steps forward and lunges first before throwing the punch, and thus cutting that distance created by the illusion. MacGregor does this too.

  • @geraldg350

    @geraldg350

    4 жыл бұрын

    Good analysis but Floyd also figured this out in the 1st fight once he figured out how Maidana fights in the later rounds he started to use his elbow to prevent Maidana using this tactic on him every time he stepped forward and lowered his head to throw overhands, this frustrated Maidana to the point he started to complain to the ref, and Floyd changed his whole game plan and took the fight to the center of the ring leading with his right hand and using pull counters and combinations on the slower Maidana
