I would only change the sequence of the splutch and actuator to avoid any stress on the actuator arm, other than that, it is a great video with lots of usable information, congratulations and thank you for sharing.

The washers with the large nut holding down the drum instead of the plastic clip are a different story. The agitator plate has a pot metal center in a plastic plate and it's mounted on a steel shaft of the gearbox. I have yet to come across an agitator plate that comes off without resistance. I've seen people use 2x4's and a hydraulic jack pressed up against the bolt to remove them. I sometimes have to beat the transmission shaft down with a length of 2x4 with a metal plate screwed to it as a makeshift sledge hammer while pulling up on the drum to release the transmission.(after un-bolting it first). The "bearing seal" on the shaft on some washers is made of metal with a rubber coating on it press fit to the shaft. It always gets stuck inside the drum. It's nearly impossible to get it out without cutting it out or splitting it with a chisel. The new transmission comes with one on it, so the old one HAS TO come out. re-assembly is never a problem. On complaints with this model of severe shaking, I have found that there are a lot of pennies and dimes that have slipped past the wash plate and get stuck in the drain holes in the drum. Removal of the drum is necessary to remove the coins.

Thanks. Good stuff. Kinda wondering why there are mixed imperial and metric screws/nuts.

Great video.....but there's no way I could do this fix. I'd have to have a picture of each step.....so I could transfer everything back over. Cheers to you for being able to do this. ;)

So mine only makes a grinding noise on agitation. Not during the spin. Any chance, could my issue be the same? Update: so I found a nut that came loose on the big pulley that connects to the main shaft through the tub. All I did was tighten it and the noise stopped. Hope that helps!

Two questions.....1) How do you recalibrate a newer model Maytag MVWX700XL2, after replacing the actuator (It shows the error codes on a digital screen). I can't seem to find instructions to recalibrate a newer Maytag after a repair. 2) I've done everything to remove my Maytag Bravos XL washer pulsator (some call it a washer plate)...it won't budge. It raises up about 1/2 inch and seems to hit something, like it's locked in place. I want to check for coins that may be stuck underneath. I don't know what else to try. I tried turning it from side to side, as if it's washing, but it won't move back & forth either.....not sure if that's possible with the power off. What could be the problem ??

The reason this happens is using too much soap And not cleaning the soap resin due to more than 1 tablespoon of soap. or 1/2 shotglass of soap.

it would of been nice to actually see the bad part, how do we know it needed that whole thing ? maybe it just needed a bearing or plate or like the guy down below a nut came loose. OVER CHARGE I call it !

I just replaced mine. Unfortunately, for this particular model, the bearing is sealed inside the transmission and is not serviceable. Other washers have accessible tub bearings, this one doesn't :(.
